Davidson injury might mean import big for Hawks

McLeod has been looking for an import guard to replace Rhys Martin, who wants to take advantage of his Irish bloodlines and further his career in Europe.

But Davidson's injury might force the Hawks to acquire two Australian guards and sign an American centre or forward to beef up the frontcourt rotation.

Gordie's comments seem to suggest they feel like Rhys Martin staying in Australia could be very helpful, but it doesn't sound like that's happening.

Not sure there are many local guards hanging around? Daniel Dillon, Lindsay Tait, Bennie Lewis?

Could they beg Spenceley to get Ogilvy or Khazzouh and then get a cheap SG import?

If it has to be an import, there are some reasonable past options like Hudson, Morrison and Wilkinson still around.

Cant do anything until Davidson has surgery.Sobey would of been a good fit at a bargain basement price.

Local guards in SEABL/other state leagues: Naburgs, Sobey, Deba George, Herbert, Shane Mcdonald, Iliadis, Bennie Lewis. An incomplete list but I think they all could perform provided they were in the right place/system. Obviously for some of these guys availability or a willingness to play is a factor.

Option 1 - Spend the money on Luke Nevill and grab lance hurdle as the second import
Option 2 - grab either Morrison or wilkinson and pick up cj or Bartlett as the pg/sg

Sobey isnt a DP with Cairns Wilson. He is only a full time training player!

I'm sure like with Wagner being at Perth and then joining the Kings a few years ago, the Taipans wouldn't get in the way of a training player being able to get a full time gig somewhere...

Does anyone know if Majok Majok has signed anywhere? He isn't a stretch big so he couldn't really replace Davidson's skill-set, but he averaged a double double in college and would be rated a 3 under the points system (I think).
