Spain has got to like their chances after looking at that roster.

Davis is the key. That squad is beatable however.

Certainly makes things a lot more even, although having watched Team USA's play Dominican Republic and seeing the teams reactions while they were winning, they still have Dream Team levels of confidence/hubris without the level of talent or status.

If Pau Gasol was playing I'd probably back Spain for the gold.

very odd team.
looks very bottom and top heavy.

curry pg/sg , rose pg , harden sg, thompson sg, irving pg, derozan sg/sf. only rudy gay as the other prime sf.

id say harden, thompson and de rozan will play more of an sf roll.

then you have cousins, drummond, plumlee and davis who are all primarily centres.
faried as the only true pf.
plumlee or davis to play pf also?

Cutting both Hayward and Parsons is an interesting one. Gay obviously impressed in the time he was with the team.

I'd have:
Rose
Curry
Gay (no other obvious choice unless they see Harden as a starter at SF)
Davis
Cousins

Seriously though, Millsap would have been perfect on this roster.

I think the only surprise was no Parsons and taking 1 extra big. Maybe they couldn't split them so they decided to take all 4 and hope that Gay, Davis and Cousins can play backup minutes behind Faried.

The have been starting Curry, harden and Faried in the warm up games. Is still the team to beat but Spain have a great chance of knocking them off

PG - Rose / Irving
SG - Curry / DeRozan / Thompson
SF - Harden / Gay
PF - Faried / Cousins
C - Davis / Plumlee / Drummond

Plumlee, how can a backup big make the team... He was average last year.

Wait, Pau isn't playing? I haven't heard anything about this.

"bloody Erving should represent Australia. Traitor."

How is he a traitor? He left here when he was 3 and has lived the majority of his live in the U.S. I doubt he'd even remember living in Australia.

Don't get me wrong i would of loved to see him play for the Boomers just because it'd make us a hell of a lot stronger but it really wouldn't be right. Him playing for us was always a pipe dream.

To add to that it would kind of be like if Bogut had chosen to play for Croatia over us.

But bogut would never play for croatia either (or would he?).

Bogut playing for Croatia would have been like being knifed in the back as he was not born there and spent his whole life in Aus. Completely different and understandable for Kyrie as his family were only in Australia temporarily and probably would not have considered themselves Australian at any point. Personally I only want people to play for Australia if they see themselves as Australian.

"But bogut would never play for croatia either (or would he?)."

My point is that Irving is as Australian as Bogut is Croatian.

Incorrect.

Irving was born in Australia, Bogut wasn't born in Croatia he just has ancestral ties to that country.

Irving is more Australian than Bogut is Croatian.

"Incorrect.

And yet, from what i've read, Bogut identifies pretty heavily with Croatia (aswell as Australia). Whereas i doubt Irving really cares about Australia.

Regardless, Irving isn't Australian. Just like Bogut isn't Croatian.

WTF #563

What kind of deluded and archaic logic is that?

You're more a tool than a functional human being.

Wow, some uneducated comments here. Guys if you get duel citizenship you can choose which country you wish to play for, especially if you are as good as those mentioned here^^

Once you choose, you may have burnt bridges for a return to the original country you were born in if you go with your secondary option, it is the player's choice, leave it there I reckon.

On the OP, that team for USA isn't quite the Dream Team is it, but I bet they will still play like it!
