Roughly the same average for home games as Cairns. Hang your head in shame Melbourne.

How much are the 36ers down?

"Average per game 4,632 this season"

In other words, over 5000 members are not attending each game.

Aren't they only 3 game memberships though?

Perhaps the 3 home games are later in the season?

(Don't know)

In the other Melbourne thread:

Just as a comparison, so far the crowds are down an average of 295 people

(Played 4 games so far. 19,713 last season compared to 18,531 this season)
Which data is correct?

Isaac, I made a mistake with the above.

I was comparing this seasons crowds to the 2012/13 season.

So the 1407 is the correct number

"Admittedly, many games were played at the Cage last season"
All of the first four were. It's a completely meaningless comparison.

Helps if your giving away pretty much most of the tickets every week to local basketball clubs!

All the fully paid up members are pumped with all the free tickets being given away (Esp as they are in the prime spots!)

Why is it a meaningless comparison?

Not one of those first 4 games were sellouts at the Cage ( maximum capacity 3,500)

Hawks are the big worry and disapointment. The new ownership brought big hopes and some more promotion and on line activity but their supporters have all gone to the beach. ( a bit liek their performances)

Maybe their ( we are poor and so have to work harder for everything) culture has been spoit with a guy splashing cash around!

Townsville of course need their community to decide if they really want to see elete level basketball or not.

Melbourne giving tickets away is better than haviong empty seats. Get people to come along for the first time - then you've got to put on a show so they want to come back.

So long as the tickets are going to grassroots players and families that wouldn't normally attend NBL games, you're absolutely correct. This applies yo all clubs except Perth and perhaps NZ.

I think its a real worry that the crowd figures have been poor so far and the issue is directly related to the Wildcats having 21 front office staff.

Get your facts right the clubs are paying for the 3 game memberships and then give them out to the members for free.

Once again, how much more is the rent?
The crowd numbers going up are meaningless, unless its compared to the extra outlay for rent and extra incurred overheads.

Are the clubs paying cash, or in-kind with things like databases?

Yes clubs pay for the memberships as part of a partnership package (different levels available).

I went to the melb game wed night, they must of counted how many legs entered the stadium! no way was there 3300 people in attendance. Furthermore I was heading to the Mundine fight when United staff offered me my mate 5 dollar tickets. Can't wait to go to the next game for a gold coin donation...

Will be interesting to see how many fans they can attract to the Margaret Court Arena when they start playing there. Can't see it being too bad really. Newly re-developed venue and probably the perfect size (7,500) for the NBL as it stands.

Pity its not like 20 years ago when they were drawing 10,000+ to Rod Laver Arena.

They've already played there. It was less than half full.
