" Perth chief executive Nick Marvin said the club insisted each player do at least 350 hours of community programs every year, well above the 150-hour threshold across the league.

"We've lost some players over the years due to that," Marvin says "

I wonder which players he is talking about there ?

Not me.

OLD article from almost this time last year.

350 hours seems an awful LOT.
Considering some players spend a lot of time overseas.
350 hours is like 10 weeks full-time for some people.
Or, if a player is here for 35 weeks, that's 10 hours a week.

It's a lot, but it delivers a sustainable employer who makes sure they get paid over the long run and an awesome atmosphere to play in front of every home game, not to mention other commercial opportunities from the profile Perth players have.

The players play one game a weekend, two if they're lucky. They train during the week -what else are they doing?

On their playstation so not sure why people think the hours are extreme.

Loughton was one who left apparently due to the hours.

Its an interesting model though. I was just thinking that maybe MU should try it. It would have the added advantage of weeding out selfish people, and might be better received than forcing all the juniors to wear their patches.
