Local Jun talent v country imports

What are most clubs stance on local - metro juniors opposed to recruiting country juniors for a quick or short term fix. Do clubs still entertain this method of recruiting against developing the kids that are in their zone or at the club long term?

No such thing as zones.

Kids are kids. Doesn't matter where they cone from.

Great for the players who are happy to make the move. Not so great for the Country Team they leave behind. One may quote Maffra's demise after losing players to metro VJBL clubs. Still every child has the right to chase their dreams.

Norwood 16 girls are in that category. No girls that played 10's or 12's in the line-up. The club and the coach are no talent front runners.

depends where in the country - i.e. 30 min drive vrs 2 1/2 hr drive.

lot of country kids that played metro when my kids went through were gone by u18s unless they moved to town for school / uni

really gets down to individual / club circumstance to say a blanket statement.

What makes people think that the metro kids playing in 18s aren't different fromthe ones pplaying in 12s?

You don't get a div 1 spot all the way through just cause you started playing first.

Same old parents clutching at straws to push some kid out because they come from the country so their little no talent can get a game at district level.
If your child is better than someone else they get a game.
However they don't own a right to a position just because they live close by and train every night.
If district level is the pinnacle then the best should play.
I am sure coaches have egos too and pick the players that give them the best chance of winning.
If your chid has talent it will show through in the end just keep trainiing and you may be surprised what the child can achieve without your parent interference.
