Who are the Aussies left in the ncaa tournament?
Mathiang, Wallace and Stirton off the top of my head... Anyone else?

I'm pretty sure Mangok Mathiang is the last one left.
He's playing for Louisville and has a good draw with both the one and two seeds knocked out in their side of the bracket.

Butler was knocked out yesterday.

Out of Interest - have any Australian's been part of a winning NCAA tournament team? And if not, which Australian has gone the furthest in the tournament?

Is it still Andrew Gaze from 1989 being runner up?

Justin Brown was on the UConn that won.

Wasn't Brown only a redshirt freshman during UConn's 98/99 title winning season??

As far as I know, an Australian has not won the NCAA basketball title.
(Gaze and Schenscher have gone close).

Maybe Simmons can change that next year.

Brown isn't listed in the roster so you might be right Rav.

Yep - Brown was not on the official roster that season as he red-shirted.

Mathiang also red-shirted when Louisville won their last national title.

And I cannot think of an Aussie who has won the NCAA Tournament either. From memory, Gaze and Schenscher went closest - both coming runners-up.

Luke Kendall and David Barlow won a national championship together in NCAA Division 2 with Metro State (Kendall won 2).

And yes, Mathiang (Louisville) in the men's side and Wallace (Baylor) and Stirton (Gonzaga) both made it to the Sweet 16 on the women's side.

Ryan Thompson did not play on the 2014 Connecticut championship team - he played the following 2014/15 season for 2 years.

These stats would beg to differ on the years Thompson attended UConn.

Ryan Thompson - UConn

Sports Reference has the same years listed. He did not play with the '04 championship team.

OK - so he is listed on that roster - but did he play a game? Yet to see any stats that he played a game that season and hence prove he was an active player on that roster and hence draw a conclusion that he was a red-shirt that year unless I can be provided with any other evidence to the contrary.

Ryan Thompson transferred in 2003 from Western Nebraska Community College after 2 seasons to UConn. So i'm assuming Ryan would of sat out a year as per NCAA requirements when changing schools + he has no stats from the 03/04 season that I can find.

If Ryan Thompson went to a JuCo he doesn't have to sit a year. He just loses his Freshman and Sophomore years at Division 1 level.

I think the facts clearly indicate that Thompson did not play on the '04 UConn championship team.

After the first week of the 2015 NCAA Tournament, there are just three Australian men and women combined that have advanced to the Sweet 16. Leading the way were Kristy Wallace (Baylor), Georgia Stirton (Gonzaga) and for the men Mangok Mathiang (Louisville).
