Due to the depth of this class, who are the boys that are underrated and are Division 1 Prospects?

Seb Lamonato - Very strong and knows how to use his size. needs to work on his jumper.

Max Coady - Recently received and invitation to NBPA camp and has never made a state team. Great player.

Lukanda Teziggwa - Versatile SG/SF and has D1 Potential.

Div 1 is over rated. Majority of kids are not getting court time and moving on or going to a D2. Smarter ones go to a decent D2 to begin with. Too much hype about D1 in basketball.

Agree with above comment. The best way to develop as a player is to play. Unless you are an elite player (ie AIS), you are better off playing 20-30 mins a game at a good D2 college. People think D1 is the ultimate, but the top 30-40 D2 colleges would beat D1 teams ranked 100 and below.

Unfortunately there are very few places allocated for div1 colleges for international students especially boys, . Boys div1 have 13 scholarships women 15, only 10percent are given to international students, and when you look at what the USA already have within their high school system, it's a tough ask to get a spot in a good DIV1 college, add into that most will go to bigs then if your a SF or SG/PG, your even less likely to pick up a good DIV1 college. Most freshmen don't get huge minutes no matter what div they play. Athletes need to consider many things before final choice from what's offered to them. It's not just the college, but the conference and the likelyhood of development once out of that freshman year.

Development is not just about game time. Surely the opportunity to train with and against better players in training in D1 over the volume of a season is better for longer term than being more dominant/standout in games in a lesser quality division ?

Agree Wondering, but many people especially parents only think court time is what the need most, and whilst yes it's great to get court time you need to look at standard they p,ay and train with and against to quantify which is better for development.

Topic is for college prospects isn't it? How is any discussion about college in the USA off topic, maybe slightly on the fringe but not off topic!

It was only a feeble attempt for someone to promote their kid anyway.

And with choosing a college (if you have that luxury) I would be leaning towards the best education, experience etc.

I'm the one who created this thread and you have gone completely off track . I was asking for names of underrated players . Not overthought responses that are completely irrelevant to the thread intention.

Why are so many so sarcastic - It is a good topic and obviously a lot of uninformed comments are prevalent. This is a particularly strong year (1997 born boys). The fact that this year group gave the USA U17 their toughest game in a long time and only missed out on the Gold Medal by 7 points tells you how seriously strong this age group is.

With that in mind the question is simply asking whether due to the strong ability in this group - are there other very good players who have missed out on making teams. Are there players from this age group who would have made an impact had they been born in a different year.

It is a reasonable question. There are only 10 Vic. Metro players who made the state team in U18 nationals in 2014. Vic. Metro could have sent three teams and all would have been extremely competitive.

Have a look at the BIG V Senior Men and Youth League competition results and Stats. You will see many 1997 born players who are performing at very high levels for 17 year olds - turning 18 this year.

Anon 261 you are right, but also remember some 1997 born are early school leavers and are in fact class of 2015, already being offered college scholarships or seeking them this year. Not all 1997 born are class of 2016 just like not all 1998 born will be class of 2017 etc.

Most underrated propspects, wow that could be a huge list really couldn't it? Just list all the kids that played at Nationals and leave out the few big stats winners and there you have it.
