Where do SEABL players go to off season?

Just posing a question in relation to SEABL men and women and their playing options off season.

Now I know some will actually play in the NBL/WNBL, I also know most imports will head back home or overseas to play in another league and some play in other State leagues, like the CBL here in Country Victoria.

I am wondering where esle, or what other options are there for SEABL players in the off season, unless of course they have to rest injuries etc...?

Do we have enough quality State leagues or country competitions out there in the summer to cater for all of our SEABL players and keep their skills up or are they also moving off shore, does anyone have an experience to share?

Most have a break as they are working full time so the rest is welcome. Small minority's play NBL or head to lower Euro leagues to play (excluding imports) like in the UK etc.

Imports usually go to smaller leagues in Europe and some head home to recuperate.

So, the weekly domestic Division 1 or A Grade game is sufficient for some in keeping their skills in check?

Majority of SEABL preseasons start in some form in late November/start of December for 1-2 days a week until Xmas then have a few weeks off and come back early/mid Jan and train 2-4 times a week until the start of the season in April. That's a 4-5 month preseason which is huge and a big commitment.

Then they play/train from April through to August/September.

So there is really only 8-12 weeks of an "off season" depending how deep you go in finals which everyone needs to freshen up physically and mentally and to have a few weekends free to spend with family and friends.

What are you getting at Bear? Do you want to start another league up during the NBL season for others?

No conspiracy theory here, just wondering about what is out there in summer league other than NBL. #646 makes a good point about the length of preseason...

The unofficial pre season is usually, running and strength from Nov. Not too strenuous. Usually Jan the hard stuff commences. Imports are never here that early and often don't turn up until March.

A fair chunk of women's SEABL players play WNBL too, less for the men, but those that don't play NBL or return back home (Imports) generally have about 8-12 weeks off then start pre season. Most will need a break.

A Full SEABL season goes for 9 months if you include preseason.

Nothing beats some below average A grade in domestic... or even D grade with some mates
