Does anyone actually know how they measure the awards for each category? Is there a formula or is it just a stats count of points and rebounds?

"STATISTICAL AWARDS" Meaning rebounds, Points, Steals and Golden Hands etc.

But thank you Anon.

Big V By-Laws

4.1.1 League Awards
Game-by-Game Voting

The Coach of each team shall award votes after each game, awarding ten votes to members of either team with a maximum of five votes to be awarded to any individual player. The League office shall publish and distribute annually MVP voting forms.

The General Manager shall monitor Coach voting and where appropriate, shall be empowered to request a Coach to recast their votes after a game.

At the conclusion of the home and away rounds, the top ten vote getters will be issued to all coaches who will then vote (3,2,1) for their best three players with three votes to the best player - Coaches will be prohibited from voting for their own players.

As a coach here is how I would work out my most valuable player.

Average Points X Shooting Percentage / 10
+
Average Rebounds X 5
+
Average Assists X 5
+
Average Steals X 5
+
Average Blocks X 5

Divide Total Figure by Average Turnovers

= MVP

Each captain and coach put in there 3, 2, 1 at the end of the season. The short list is made from the votes given out by coaches during the season.

Think everyone missed OP's question I think. Statistical awards would be league leading scorer, rebounder & Golden Hands.
The above MVP and other nominations aren't generally considered Statistical awards.

Not so easy to nominate an MVP for basketball without using some form of statistics is it?

Big V didn't announce player's of the month for July also that I could see.

Wasn't arguing that statistics need to be reviewed to determine an MVP and the like Anon.
Merely stating that the OP was asking about 'Statistical Awards', which usually refers to the ones I mentioned, not MVP & All Star etc which are based on Votes, not statistics.

Okay, so is Golden Hands based on Average Assists per Game?

I am confused that Snowball had 8.5 APG and Threat had 7.3 APG yet they listed Threat as Golden Hands based on the stats?

Or maybe there is another criteria...............?

The Golden Hands award, which often causes some confusion, is given to the player with the highest number after calculating assists plus steals minus turnovers.

Thanks anon^, that may clear things up a bit, what a coincidence then that the figure also just happens to be his average assists per game!

There must also be a criteria for the amount of games played, do you have any idea what the qualifying number of games is?

Golden Hands

Steals + Assists - Turnovers / games played
