So many issues with illicit drug use, mental health is only one of them.

Mental health is 2000's standard excuse! Half the time bought on by the drug use!

All excuses really....what did people with these mental issues do pre 1980...oh they just got on with it

what an ignorant comment mental health is exactly the same as someone with cancer just there are no outward symptoms.

Suicided or drug overdosed....just want labelled as mental health being the common theme. Very naive take on a real issue. Its not an excuse, its a diagnoses. Never had a drug problem during his playing days, but lost a child to sids, was involved in a killed pedestrian incident in NY, met a dysfunctional girl, its all adds up and overwhelms. If you can't get these issues seen to and money is no object, it can be a very dangerous combo.

Unfortunately didn't learn from the lessons of his father. And being focused upon being in that family and the subsequent break up would have pushed an already damaged person spiraling down with millions of dollars in his account.
I think the failed trade from Lakers and the feeling of betrayal was the catalyst to all this and it showed on court.
So sad, was an amazing player with so much promise.
And the idiotic comment about mental health, obviously never had a loved one affected by the disease coz that's what it is.

Gutted by the trade, lost his kid, lost two friends. That's brutal.

Easy to get lost and confused in a busy world.

Latest from TMZ:

Lamar is still in a coma and his heart is failing ... our source says he is having serious problems with his kidneys and lungs as well.

"Never had a drug problem during his playing days?" What planet are you on Kobe? Suspended multiple times for failing drug tests in the early 2000's. He was a ticking time bomb since high school. The tragic events involving his family were the last straw in something he could never come back from. Drugs ruin lives, who would've thought!

Drug addiction is easily the most stigmatised mental illness. It can happen to anyone. There will be more and more Australian's getting hooked on prescription pills in coming years.

It seems its harder for wealthy people like Lamar to hit a bottom. Regular people lose their job and/or run out of money in many cases and find their way into abstinence based recovery programs. Its a shame LO couldn't find the help he needed.
