Why doesn't Rhys Carter stay in one place?

Why doesn't he stick around at clubs? He always provides value. Had a great shooting season at the breakers. Was seviceable at the cats.

Disappointed he didn't return/wasn't re-signed with the 36ers, he played so well in the gf series for us

His 3 point shot has certainly deserted him, as has Thornton's.

At this point you'd have to say:

- Kings should have offered Corletto a gig instead of Carter.

- Lisch instead of Thornton. Lisch had declared his availability before they signed Thornton; so one can assume either Lisch demanded more $ OR they went for Thornton instead. A seasoned pro, ex MVP who's been playing in Spanish Div 1, or a talented kid who got drafted to the NBA. If true, interesting they went with the latter. I suspect a few ppl in Kings head office might be kicking themselves right now.

NZ didn't retain him as they scored him cheaply and then he wanted a payrise to re-sign based on his performances and the club didn't have the money so they were forced to let him sign elsewhere.
It was nothing to do with Rhys or his ability or attitude.

Rys Carter doesnt stay long with clubs simply because he isn't a consistent player!

-His decision making is very poor!
-He isn't a floor leader!
-Plays the 1 or 2 position and therefore doesn't truly
know his role within the team.
-He at times have no conscious and take bad shots.
-Pts/Assist/Steals average doesn't warrant a team
signing him for more than 1 season.
-He is known in the NBL as a backup player who is a
better option than a development player
-Have been given multiple chances on different teams
to establish himself but yet haven't given coaches
the confidence he is worth a long term contract.

*Note: Most likely to secure a 1 year contract with the
Brisbane Bullets next season.

Never a superstar, but he seems to be a good locker room guy, so it is a bit of a surprise that he has moved around so much. Worse players have had long stints at single clubs.

Rhys was really good with NZ last year. He seems to have improved a lot as he has moved into his 30s.

As a youngster he played too fast, tried to do too much and turned the ball over a lot and shot poor %s.

This current version of Rhys is everything you'd want in a back up guard at nbl level.

3P% is just too streaky, I imagine. 19% so far this season, for example.

Yeah, he's a steady backup PG and doesn't commit many mistakes, but his 3pt shot is very streaky.

Yep, I'll complete the hat trick of "streaky"
That, and his ambition >> his ability, resulting in rare heroics but more often just bad-percentage decisions.

I've never understood the fascination with Rhys Carter. In his 10 seasons with the Giants, Razorbacks, Dragons, 36ers, Wildcats, 36ers (again) and the Breakers he's never once shot 40% from the field and has only shot above 30% on 3pts three times.

Yes, once in a blue moon he can get hot but for the most part he's always been a low percentage chucker but I guess every team hopes he won't hurt them enough and might win 1 or 2 games for them.

Rhys is an excellent player when surrounded by talent.

Excellent defender, clever passer,, had arguably his most controlled season with NZ last year, but so far this season he's hurting the Kings by being an irrational confidence guy instead of the veteran head they need.

Hes rubbish. Second the comments on those that day he's irrationally confident. That wildcats team that had him and everard bartlett was absolutely cringeworthy as two guys who thought they were Michael Jordan. I think combined for something like 2/38 FGs in that grand final series to shoot us out of it

Too good to leave off a roster, not good enough to be a lock in a team's best 7 (plus wouldn't be all that cheap as the 8th or 9th player). He has to take the opportunities where ever that might be.
