Al Harrington signs up to Champions League
The NBL farewelled Al Harrington on Thursday night.
The former NBA veteran spent four weeks in Australia as an injury replacement for Sydney Kings star Josh Childress, averaging an impressive 17.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, leading the Kings to a 2-4 record over his time with the team.
Harrington walked into his final NBL post-game press conference with an ice pack on his knee, and a noticeable limp, but his playing days are far from over.
The next stop for the 2.08m power forward is a new US-based league, namely: The Champions League.
The 16-team league is expected to run during the NBA off-season, and has already attracted former NBA All-Stars in Rasheed Wallace and Brandon Roy, who will team up with Harrington on the league's New York team.
