Tyson Demos out for the season

The Illawarra Hawks regrettably announce that Tyson Demos has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2015/16 season with an ongoing knee injury.

Demos met with the clubs medical team and Head Coach Rob Beveridge this morning where it was decided in the best interest of his longer term future that he sits out the reminder of the season.

Tyson suffered an injury to his knee earlier this season that has unfortunately not significantly recovered enough to allow him to return to playing or training.

Will be hard to replace someone like Demos, with his zero points rating and all.

Damn.

This is the perfect example where they need to change the rule to Weeks can be dropped and then re signed.

Rhys Martin close to returning and now Demos ruled out for the season. Things are looking up for the Hawks.

Hawks should be allowed to swap Weeks for Demos without issue.

Have they got room in the points cap to replace Demos?

Weeks was never a replacement for Martin. Martin never was a player to replace. They just keep weeks and then they will be alright.

Chalmers they have enough room in the points cap to sign a whole second team :P

Perhaps a little bit of a conspiracy theory, although is it possible the club told Demos not to come back this season as Weeks has proved too valuable and they wanted to keep him in the lineup?

Potentially a promise of a roster spot next season for Demos if he does the right thing by the club?

Wait a minute.

Weeks is an injury replacement for Rhys. When Rhys comes back Weeks cannot be signed again. Those are the rules.

Is this an exaggerated injury to allow weeks to stay on the roster?

@ Camby - Technically, they had the free points under the cap and are able to sign more than 10 players as standard, so they technically could have just signed Weeks to a standard contract, not as an injury replacement, which is usually the method when you need to use the injured players points for room under the points cap...

I initially thought it was a bit suss timing with Demos out and Martin coming back in, but with so much room under the points cap, surely the cost of Demos' salary (a pie and a can of coke after the game?) wouldn't have forced them to sit him out, surely?

Spenceley WAS really happy in his little mid-game interview on the weekend though, so maybe he pulled off some sort of McPeakey thing or something...
