What has happened to Isaac Humphries?

Hasn't seen 1 minute for Kentucky over the last few games.

Does anyone know whether he is injured? Or does coach Cal choose to not play him?

He's a 17 year old playing for Kentucky - playing behind a junior big-man (Marcus Lee), a senior big-man (Alex Poythress), and a projected top 2016 draft pick (Skal Labissiere, although his stock is dropping fast!)

When Humphries has played, he's done very decently. Looks like Cal is continually changing things up to try to figure out a rotation.

No need to panic

The kid is 17 and they only use him when they need a big body. Duke for eg..
Lee and skal are getting the nod at centre. Poythress and willis at PF.
I'm sure coach cal will use Humphries or Wynyard a lot more when they face bigger teams.

Hes still young...

But..

He should never have reclassified or gone too Kentucky as hes good but not Kentucky good.Next year hell be stuck behind alot better big men in Wenyon Gabriel & Bam Adenayo as well as alot more athleric guards in Fox and Monk.

That's what concerns me. Perhaps he should have gone to a smaller college so he could play big minutes and develop (ala Bogut with the Utes)

Keep in mind that he's supposed to be in his last year of high school. This is a free year, practicing against elite big men, and playing with elite guards, while being taught by one of the best in Calipari. Couldn't ask for much better.

Next year, when it's realistically his freshman year, he'll be just as effective as your usual 'star' freshman

He'll transfer to Saint Mary's and underwhelm in the SEABL. Remember when Ben Allen got a scholarship to Indiana?

Humphries had a mild foot injury in November, but I was led to believe he was now OK.

He will get rotation minutes moving into the New Year, but it will be next year when his real chance to shine will come.

Kentucky is a great basketball program but its not known for developing players like a Humphries who is still very raw and has a lot to learn. Kentucky look to recruit 5 Star players who generally are 1 and done players and unless Humphries transfer next year where he can play and get 1on1 development he will be used as practice bait.

Anon, are you aware how smart the kid is, or how talented he is outside of basketball?

You post like you know more than you probably do, but I think Isaac knows what he is doing...

I do know basketball and outside of basketball isn't going to help his minutes on the court. If he is their to be the perfect student good luck to him but it pointless and demoralising training everyday not knowing from week to week if you gonna play because there are 3 other players ahead of you.

If he gets burn and looks good in the next few years he'll be a lock to get drafted....if not he'll be training hair and need a transfer to a smaller school and another conference.

Personally I would have loved him at duke as coach K would have developed him over 2/3 years into a legit baller top NBA or at worst euro prospect
