Free throw lane violation

The Nbl needs to look at the offensive player breaking into lane before the free throw is taken. It seems to be happening more anrd more now. The umpires always seem to call the break on the defensive player who is just reacting to the offensive player moving, awarding another free throw if the shot is missed. Is it a tactic from the coaches because the offensive player doesn't have much to lose? If the shot is made it counts anyway and if it doesn't are they banking on the defensive player getting called for the violation for being in front?

Agreed - Samhan was really pushing forward obviously from the offensive rebounding position but Johnson was copping the violation. It happened twice that I can remember towards the end of a close match and could potentially affect the result. Johnson was telling the ref all about it but he didn't want to know.

Only the shooter can cancel a scored free throw. If an offensive player in the lane line breaks early anf the shot is made you play on. Whistles are coming for both but only the defensive violation has an actual affect on the play. Its the rule.

An offensive violation results in loss of possession after a miss, not an extra shot.
