NBA D league

Reading an article about the expansion of the development league got me thinking, why doesn't the NBA alter the D league to be a true division 2 league. Rosters for clubs would increase to 24, with 12 in the NBA team and 12 in the reserves team. Gives them plenty of players to use, guys are coached the way they want them so they are ready etc.

In my opinion the positives are endless. Reserves teams can still play in nearby, but different cities if desired as well.

Great idea but some of the top guys would probably earn less money, can't see it happening.

It would involve lowering the minimum obviously, The top 15 or so would be on the same NBA money and the guys who would see little to no NBA action would be on a reduced salary.

The bottom nine would practically be On today's D league money or slightly more.

Example 2016/17:
Top 15 cap: 90 million @ 6 mil average per player
Bottom 9 cap: 1.8 million @ 200k average per player
