Why didn't Josh Jenkins make it in basketball?

I've noticed Jenkins is absolutely tearing it up for the Crows lately.

Was he close to NBL level but it was too hard to make a living at the lower end of the bench? Or was he just not good enough?

How do you guys feel when you see ex NBL players or college basketball players tearing it up in AFL?

Never made a roster but pretty sure Jenkins used to be a squad member with Townsville. Then he quit took up footy got picked up by Essendon they never played him so he was traded to the Crows and now tearing it up.

He is the type of player, where it makes sense for him to move over to footy. Struggling at the bottom of the NBL making probably nothing. Why not?

Meanwhile, Greenwood throwing a reasonably promising career down the toilet, for a shot at AFL seems a bit silly.

Greenwood got shat on by BA. Equally he shat on Perth Wildcats. Be interesting to see where his career ends up.

Greenwood didn't get shat on by BA...he simply wasn't good enough and spat the dummy.

Five man skill set with three man height. He made a smart choice.

He was promised a spot on the Boomers team. That didn't occur and 1 week later he was gone.

Greenwood didn't get disrespected by BA at all. He felt he was better than he actually was.

I don't pay any attention to it or really care, to be honest. As some have said, people go where their opportunities and pay are better. Sometimes that's NBL, sometimes NBA, sometimes AFL.

Someone goes to the AFL, another player fills that spot in the NBL.

Promised? Yeah right. Why would BA promise a Boomers spot to a guy who at best would've only ever been 12th man?

More like he realised he had almost no chance of making the Olympic team thought bugger this and walked out on the Wildcats to chase a more lucrative AFL contract knowing teams now have incentives to sign athletes switching sporting codes.

Off topic about Hugh! But

Not that I'm an expert on Hugh's basketball game as I've never seen him play. Probably the same as most on here, despite your comments!

However, he made the All Star 5 at the World U19 Championshipsin Latvia, 2011. Averaged 17.1ppg, 4rpg, 2.6apg

Having been to a couple of World Junior Championships, that is no easy feat - so he must have some skill!!!

Good luck to Hugh no matter what he does. Life's too short for haters. Look at Neale Daniher and others!

Clearly no ability and a (12th man hilarious0 yet the Wildcats signed him for 3 seasons. Cam Gliddon was clearly a better choice and has gone on with it.
I guess you hate Delly too..

Hardly on topic as DG played in the NBL and the topic isn't about players that blew it either.
DG is still a great player and doing very well in the SEABL for the Bandits.

Hugh Greenwood is coming along very well in the SANFL. He might need two seasons to get up his skill levels but he defenately appears to be on track for an AFL debut imo.
