NZ's Shea Ili injured, out for pre season at least

NZ back up PG's sore back has been diagnosed as a stress fracture so he has been ruled out of the pre-season and most likely the start of the 2016-17season.
The NZ Breakers Coaching staff are actively looking to cover the loss of the young backup PG and a 3rd Import has been mentioned as an option they are likely to use.

The Breakers' tweet implied he was out for the entire season. Was that just the character limit causing odd phrasing?

I guess that is the potential of an injury like this,
Best case he misses a few games at the start of the season, worst case he's out for the season.
NZ won't want to rush him back especially if they can get someone decent to cover the loss and a 3rd Import would likely do that and more.

Has he been working out with the women's COE team?

Out at least two months, we're looking for an Aussie PG to fill the gap on a short-term basis. Hoping its not Shane MacDonald.
