software PC assistance needed

when i go to nbl.com.au and look at the nbl round schedule, the time date is not displayed for each game. All i see is "upcoming".

I have tried a number of different settings, and looked at high contrast settings, but cannot fix the problem.

Any ideas??

It might be that your screen resolution isn't high enough and the detail is being hidden rather than collapsed vertically for narrower browsers.

You can see your screen resolution and browser size reported here:

That is one skinny-arse monitor

My browser size is 1696 x 834, running on a 1920 x 1080 monitor.
You'd probably find that the site is optimised for something around 1280.

So yes, it is squashing the page, and below a certain size the d&t drop off.

As you have discovered, the zoom function directly effects the browser size.
(increasing your resolution would have the same effect and make everything else smaller.)

(Alternative is a wider monitor. :-( )

Is this how you're viewing it?

That's one seriously skinny monitor, almost like a tablet in portrait mode.

I think most of us thought you were trolling, but then of course what should be unsurprising is that the NBL website isn't quite compatible with varying browser window sizes. For a professional league it's really not good enough.

It's compatible, but it should rearrange vital content rather than hide it.

ket, yes, but if i go to 90% on the chrome zoom, all is great.

It was the same on 2 monitors, and also on the TV connected on hdmi.

Isn't that just another way of saying it isn't compatible?

Isaac, I don't think the Dodo news item is compatible. Reading text over text isn't ideal

whataboutit, yeah i'd say you fit in a minority of the internet population in terms of your screen specs and the NBL website seems to be pretty crap for dealing with that.

It's the NBLs fault at the end of the day and just unfortunate.

There used to be a place where you could check your content on various screen sizes and browser versions. Can't remember where it was, but clearly the NBL doesn't seem to know either.

More subjective than that and I'm giving the league benefit of the doubt.

In this case, all they needed to do was think it through or resize a browser and see how the content reacts.

The navigation issues this whole time suggest to me it was designed by designers and not web designers. I see it all the time in my line of work.

screen res is now 1280 x 1024

browser is now 1280 x 894

WTF

Yeah that screen resolution the website would work.

I don't really know why you decided to system restore?

If I was to guess..

You probably found a fix was to change your screen resolution setting to 1280 x 1024 through "right click on desktop > display settings > advanced display settings"

Then you probably did a system restore, which changes settings back to a point in time, and that would have reverted your resolution to the previous skinny mode.

I'm not immune to dealing with screen resolutions either, I got a laptop which is QHD+ (3200 x 1800) and i'll tell you, that made websites look ridiculously tiny.

Ket, from reloading win 7 last night and everything was working, to turning on this morning, no changes were made but the browser size had changed causing the original problem again.

It will be interesting to see if the browser resizing "stays".
