The NBL is looking at the prospect of fielding a team in summer league or playing against a dleague select team. They are also looking at the prospect of the NBL champs playing the CBA champs.

"With FIBA to adopt "soccer style" international windows from 2017, the NBL will need to pause during windows in November and February due to the number of Australian and New Zealand internationals in the NBL.
NBA players won't be released for the windows during the NBA season so local or European based players would be called up for the Boomers or Tall Blacks"
Don't like the sound of this at all.
Does this mean the end of any Aussies playing NBA representing the Boomers at World Cup and Olympics tournaments??

Why would a change to the qualifying schedule affect the tournament itself?

I like the idea of the NBL winner playing the CBA champs. I'd go one step further and have a mini-"McDonalds Championship" tourney from the Asia region. It wouldn't be too competitive for the first half-decade or so, and maybe you look at multiple CBA & NBL teams plus the champs of some of the other pro/semi/barely-pro teams around Asia, but hopefully it would help build basketball in the region long-term.

No. There are four windows and only 2 of them are during NBA season. And then the actual tournaments are going to still be held during NBA off season. If anything, NBA players have more options to play for their country now than they did before.
