2017 U14 Nationals

All touring teams have now been selected in WA, after the boys qualification tournament was held on the weekend. Willetton, Rockingham and Perry Lakes will head to Dandenong representing WA in the boys. Willetton, Perry Lakes and Joondalup will represent WA in the girls

Have any of the other states had their qualification tournament yet?

Great that you've brought this up.

But aren't the U14 Club Championships in early October?

That's more than 6 months from now?

In this age group, so much can change in that time.

in SA girls Sturt are the current benchmark - however Tigers will start overtaking them in State Champs with a full team and by the end of Winter will be SA's best team.
Forestville will improve and be 3rd best - West or South 4th

No one will catch Sturt in 14 girls.

Sounds like there's been a lot of movement in 14 boys.

I'm sorry, we're actively admitting recruiting players in juniors!? Whatever happened to having strong, competitive clubs across the board and increasing the level of competition rather than the rich just getting richer. What a disgrace

you maybe confusing recruiting v poaching ? clubs are supposed to recruit

Reply #630960 | Report this post

It's poaching. Wolves were paying $ whereas Stirling weren't or very minimal amounts. So it was just a case of more $, which is nothing to do with recruting.

Poaching is taking kids from another club. Recruiting is finding kids who don't already play. Recruiting is what Tigers have done in this instance.

At under 14 level, i dont know of any recruiting. I see the parent group get friendly with other parents and (when they see they may be looking for another option) offer up their club as an option based on the fit.

The strong clubs are USUALLy strong at this level based on parents wanting their kids to play for winning clubs.

I hope the Tigers do well, i LOVE what they are doing this year and the kids are awesome at under 14 level.

Looking at waratah tables, Sydney and Illawarra go through in the boys currently being undefeated. Dandenong take up one Vic spot in boys and girls being the hosts. Safe to say bulleen will also go close in boys and girls too

Nunawading has to beat hawthorn to get in, not sure how that makes them #1 seed? Everyone know Bulleen are the #1 team in U/14 girls in the country.

Seven weeks out, fixtures must be due out soon?

Interesting that you would expect most of the interstate teams to fly into Melbourne either the day before or on the day of the AFL Grand Final, makes booking flights a priority with prices due to skyrocket.
