Have been around this group of young women and men extensively over the past six months. Thoroughly pleased for all that have made the teams. Like all groups there are some surprising selections and omissions, but these kids can all seriously play. They (both groups) will be tough to beat!

not so sure the metro teams will breeze through the tournament this time round.

Nsw metro go pretty deep in the boys and so too sa m and qld Sth in the girls.

Great job girls selectors from 17 teams in VC (excluding country teams) we pick our team from 3 clubs. Nothing fishy here

Who says there has to be an even spread? Happens once in a while when one club is very strong in that particular age group.
'Sorry, you clearly deserve your spot, but we have too many players from your team already, so we are picking someone from a team that several places below your team on the ladder, we can't look fishy'

So by your theory the 5-6 player at this "strong club" is stronger than the single best player at the other 17 VC clubs??

Anon, the bulleen group from u14 did lose a game to knox who now have 2 starters at Dandenong; also quite a few changes from then to now.
State coach = bulleen coach = 5 kids inc 2 non starters
State Ast Coach = DValley coach = 2 kids
State Selector = DValley 14 coach whose asst is last years bulleen 2nds coach
State Selector last year to this head coach knox 16 coach 3 girls in one is daughter.
There were at least another 3 bulleen or ex bulleen coaches involved in selection including the current Bulleen assistant coach.
They are not the three best sides by a stretch Dandy undefeated in VC have played Bulleen in both GF's this year and Nuna only lost to Dandy and beat DValley Aust Day QF.
Dandy Coach pulls out of being State Asst = no girls in
Do the math, if the coach wins with the group then she is a bloody good coach, be great if a non VC coach selected and coached the state teams

The guard that missed out from Bulleen is a gun who was the main part of their successful year two years ago and is seen by many as the best player in the comp.

Coaches want to win so they are not going to leave out "the best player in the comp", even if they have an exceptionally bad attitude.

#631074 i think that's the point, all the pressure is now on this group because of what appears to be self interest, i hope they win but everyone is watching

""State coach = bulleen coach = 5 kids inc 2 non starters

and this ^ is the reason why coaches should not be chosen from the same age groups as the ages they will oversee at state level, and their must be at least two selectors involved that are neutral to all clubs.
Nepotism at its best

I'd fancy my chances with the 5 reserves and a pick of 5 new players.

"There were at least another 3 bulleen or ex bulleen coaches involved in selection including the current Bulleen assistant coach.""

I am not sure that this is correct?
There was one selector there from Frankston
There was a slew of coaches from many clubs who where there to facilitate sessions, not involved with selecting though.

Message to TB - Tarni B from Bulleen. Come and play for us. Not sure who couldn't do with the quickest defensive and offensive player in the competition. Elite handles and footwork. Right coach = right environment. You will hear from us.

631413 she wont get the chance back to rep Vic top age, it was taken away by politics.
631406 you can take away the Dandy assistant coach which is why there was no dandy kids picked from an undefeated team, again politics, he was replaced by a Bulleen/DValley coach again, not to forget the current assistant and his mum because they are mates with the coach.

Lets hope sense prevails here. Time for someone to move on out and let everyone see some fresh faces. U18 and that selection panel is a definite no

The 2026 team went undefeated with a number of players from several clubs. Melb, Dandy, Knox, Bulleen, Hawthorn & DV. What was wrong with that panel ?

631480 - this is a someone whose child was mistreated in the U18 State Team a couple of years ago by a then Assistant Coach but who now gets to do the same to a younger group of girls in the U16's. Pretty simple. Cycle will continue to repeat itself unless stopped
