Good point Ricey. Any team called the lightning should at least have a freaking lightning bolt in their logo! and preferably two of them.

I think they're looking to follow the lead of the Wildcats/Lynx and make the relationship more obvious.

You don't need a bird, which has zero to do with either teams names or logos ever to emphasise the relationship. You can do that with colours and logo script. This is just terribly thought out on both accounts. When will these clubs learn

The magpie/piping shrike has strong SA roots, I quite like the look of both logos however the Lightning one looks a bit '2008' for me

Maybe that's intentional. The Lightning won the title in 2008 ;)
The bird looks good, even if it has zero to do with the name.
