Clippers trade CP3 to Rockets for Beverley, Williams, etc

Big trade for the Rockets. At least the Clippers get something in return, not much, but something.

Will be interesting to see how Harden and CP3 work together with both being ball dominant guards.

The trade:

Rockets get CP3 in exchange for Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Montrezl Harrell, Darrun Hilliard, DeAndre Liggins, Lou Williams, Kyle Wiltjer, a future first round pick and cash.

Big day in the NBA in general with this trade, Phil finally getting the flick in NYC, Woj moving to ESPN!

They have tried to pair Harden with another playmaker before (Lawson) and that didn't work, but probably more to do with Lawson than anything. You need multiple playmakers to be successfull in this NBA, so it was definitely worth the trade.

CPs PnR game will flourish in Houston, but Mike D will want him to speed up the pace and he and Harden will need to take a slight step backwards in terms of having the ball in their hands.

What else do they need to content with the Dubs?

Not convinced this will work. Both very much ball dominant PG's, so not sure who controls the ball the majority of the time. Harden has just produced a fantastic season as the primary ball handler. Feel like PG13 or Hayward would've been a much better fit.

The positives - they didn't have to give up much for him, although a threadbare bench just became more threadbare. Not sure how comfortable i'd be in giving CP3 $150 million, if i was the Rockets though.

What will LAC do with Williams and Crawford? Are they somewhat similar players?

Getting Beverley is probably not awful, right?

I think teams would both be happy to add either Williams or Crawford, so they have value as trade pieces. Seems like a case of get as much as you can because he walks anyway. not a bad result in that case.

Smart move by Paul tryout Houston for a year if he likes it they've now got his Bird rights and he can re-sign for $200m+ if not he and LeBron will both be free-agents this time next year and can pick a team to play together on.

Big decisions for the Clippers. You'd think Redick and Crawford are both gone. If they keep Blake, they're probably a 40-45 winning team tops. If Blake leaves, do they trade DeAndre and bottom out? I'd say yes.

They were offered pick 4in the draft for DAJ, but turned it down. If you knew CP3 was leaving a week later, you'd probably take it.

So Clippers could of had Carmelo with not having to give up much to the Knicks. Yet deal didn't go through to keep sonny boy around. Also Doc on $50/mil for five years is the highest paid coach in the NBA... lol wtf? Sounds like the Rivers clan are well looked after in Clipland.

Crawford has gone to the Hawks as the Clippers get Gallinari.
