Finally some height in this age group (2001 ,2002) considering this is the second (different) group for the year it shows how much potential talent is coming through, too much for the AIS/COE and NBA Global Academy alone.
With guys like matur maker and Josh Green also going O/S.
There's also two tall 2002 QLD'ers in Eddy Maslic 208+ and Jordan Schwalger 205 that haven't been looked at..

Boys, something like;

Reyne Smith, 10/02 177 U16 TAS
Roosevelt Williams, 8/02 179 U16 WA
Biwali Bayles, ?/02 ? U16 NSW
Mojavee King, 6/02 185 U16 QLD
Boston Mazlin, 3/02 188 U16 QLD
Sean Baker, ?/0? 190+ U16 QLD
Josh Giddey. ?/0? 19? U16 VIC
Fiston Ipassou, 9/03 192 U16 SA
Max Davies, 5/00 195 U18 NT
Riley Stasinowsky, 3/02 195 U16 SA
John Ibukunoluwa, 10/02 195 U16 WA
Akoldah Gak, 7/02 195+ U16 NSW
David Okwera, ?/02 195+ U16 WA
Lachlan Bofinger, 2/01 196+ U17 NSW
Hayden Blankley, 7/00 197 U18 NSW
Bol Dengdit, ?/02 ? U16 VIC
Campbell Green, 7/01 200+ U17 NSW
Blake Jones, 2/02 202 U16 QLD
Jack McWilliams, ?/03 200+ U16 NSW
Kane Waters, 2/02 205+ U16 WA

K.henderson is nsw metro.

Matur maker is born 98..
Makur maker is 00
Josh green also 00

The latter two should be on the next u19 squad, but with BA who knows.. probably won't be.

Enormous amount of bigs in 03/04 age group.

This camp is a strange mix of ages and performance levels, with the current top tier of kids in the age bracket (except the '03s) already identified. So is it just for coaches to look at these kids?

I'd say so.
More of a identification camp.

Not sure why you'd be looking at guys and girls born 00 or 01. Thought they would be looking at the next crop. 03/04.

this years Asia, Next years u17 worlds, 2017 u18 Asia champs and 2018 u19 world spots are already pretty much locked in.

U16/17 women 01/02
Amoore, Heal, Palmer, Melbourne, Poa, Nnopu, Potter, Pollerd, Hollingsworth, anstey, Hannan, Rees. Possibly a couple of changes next year depending on how they perform in Asia.

U16/17 men 01/02
Wigness, Herbert, madden, Rantall, Travers, Capetola, Clarke, Buluk, Jackson, Meakes, Williamson, Tsapatolis. Possibly a couple of changes next year.

U18/19 women 00/01
McDowell-white, heal, Goodchild, Gould, Dangelo, Clarke, George, puli, Bourne, Rees. (+ COE Shelley, Simons, Hawea, Palmer, poa, Hollingsworth, Hannan) + all the previous camp prospects and state based standouts. + those whose are in u17 squads.
The deepest age group for women in Aus history. Got to be 30+ outstanding players around aus.

U18/19 men 00/01
Lee, MacDonald, Krause, stattman, Robertson, Kunek, leupepe, Bowen, Dalton, Froling. (+ COE Garang, Ducas, Wigness, Buluk, Beard, Clarke) + all the other previous camp prospects and state based standouts. Also overseas guys like josh green and makur maker etc. + those who are in u17 squads.

Where do all these new AD camp prospects fit in?

My only guess with the '00s invited is that BA is worried about availability of some of the players they'd like to take to u19s.

I don't know the girls well enough to comment, but I think it's a shame that the '01 boys there don't include a couple of the obvious snubs from the Asia Cup selection camp. I hope there's communication going back to those kids around why they're being overlooked or what they are in line for, because there's certainly no transparency around the process for a casual observer.

yeah probably 4 major snubs.
Think schueller would have known though being amongst vic npp and nitp.

The people complaining about 'no transparency...for a casual observer' are the parents or club coaches whose kids didn't make it.

There's no need for the average basketball fan to know the ins and outs of selections/de-selection.

That comment was so predictable, thanks. I'm neither a parent nor coach of the age group. It'd be wonderful if you'd contribute to the actual substance of the discussion rather than making stupid assumptions about other anons.

In the case of the boys group just selected for Asia Cup, it's very hard to argue, based on performance at Nationals, that everyone who deserved to be at camp was given that chance. If that results in elite kids becoming disillusioned with the sport and turning to something else, then, yeah, as a fan of Australian basketball, that bothers me a little bit.

I actually agree with you that there's no need for a casual observer to know the ins and outs of selection decisions. I didn't say "I wish there was greater transparency, so that I, who have nothing to do with this process, was better informed." I said "I hope there's information going back to these kids." So they stick with the sport, because that makes Australian basketball better.
