Should cats bring in an offensive coach ?

After last years terrible run of really poor offensive games (these last 2 look suspiciously similar) I had hoped they would clear out some of the players on the bench to mimic Cairns, Illawara who have deeper bench of shooters.

- Kenny was proven to be a bit of a poor backup
- Bragg cant shoot
- Hire works hard but offensively limited
- DKD inconsistent , really not NBL talent level

Stendl kind of was the right move but really has not had much of any plays run for him. Has his skills gone or are they just not running effective offensive plays.

Looking at the Sydney Kings example where bringing in Smyth seems to have helped them. Do we think Gleeson should bring in an offensive specialist coach for a short period to try and get their stagnant 1v1 offensive to be more potent ?

Next year their bench really needs a new look. Aging and far less talented than many others today.

can't see how they'll find anyone more offensive than Trevor Gleeson..

That Illawarra game should've been over in the 1st quarter. They shat themselves, poor shooting night form the regulars. Need to figure out how to bring the intensity without Martin.

Hopefully Trev goes harder on his players and loses the locker room

Perth rank:

1st in offensive rating
2nd in offensive rebounds
3rd in scoring
3rd in FG%
3rd in assists
3rd lowest in TOs

So I'd go no to an offensive coach.

Obviously they are going to take a hit with Martin out and Cotton forced to play more PG, but that's a short-term issue.

Whether Smyth helped or not, the issue there is that Dewey can't coach, period. Gleeson has won 3 championships.

Smyth watched Gaze and the other coaches interact with the players during his time with them. He gave virtually no input with regards to their offensive structure.

Perth seem to have 13 staff on their bench. Surely not all these people are needed for an nbl team?

So an offensive coach to coach all the players that haven't got it?

Perth could hit their open shots, find a way to get to the stripe and erase 5 careless turnovers and they will be fine

(any team) just has to (significantly improve multiple areas) and they will be fine

Perth are easily the most scrutinised team in the league, and not just by their own fans.
