It doesnt have to be an assistant coach already in the nbl, could be an ex assistant or head coach. Most guys are still are coaching in other leagues, what about other guys coaching that never coached in the nbl before.
The depth of quality coaches in Australia is lacking, as that list shows.
Hopefully Fearne stays in the NBL, otherwise a big loss.
Even Coach of the Year Vickerman is only average at best.

A few name ex head coaches out there the Taipans could turn too like Ian Stacker, Gordie McLeod, Phil Smyth even Shane Heal and Brendan Joyce.

Of the current assistants I think Downer would be a lead contender. Experience in multiple programs, including Boomers and knows the Cairns playing culture and management from his time there previously.

Heal won't coach in this league ever period, Goorijan is a franchise killer & winner so its risk reward.
Stacker has a cushy job running a Sports Academy and couldn't never see him returning tot he pro leagues.
Be interesting to see what people think of coaches outside of the NBL in the ranks such as SEABL QBL etc I know Darren Perry & Ben Harvey have been given some voice in this forum in the past.
Not at all impossible Vickerman was once head coach of Melb Uni in the VBL (BigV)
Downer and Pearlman would be leading assistants for the Cairns job followed by Shawn Dennis.
NBL had a good article about potential NBL coaches earlier this year.

For me , I find it hard to take him seriously after Voldemort on here.
If a player looked at him for a few seconds too long he'd wanna sack him...
I would like to see Rohan Short get another NBL Asst gig fwiw.
Jamie O'Loughlin, already there and has plenty of experience. Was successful at SEABL, then an assistant at Perth before coming to Cairns too!
