Newbill should be their starting 2-guard if they can't get Corey Webster

Disagree. Pledger hard done by this year. Should have played more.

Regardless. Doesn't matter who starts. They all play

Vukona, Pledger and Loe as your 3 bigs - two starting??? wow. I'd suggested something more like this:

Illi
Import
Abercrombie
Import
Import

2 x backup G
Vukona
Ngati
Loe

Best hope would be getting webster back to start at SG to leave a cheap import spot open on the bench.

Why wouldn't they bring back Sosa, even if Ili is ready to start? Sosa seemed to do OK from the bits I saw.

Sosa stopped the ball and was an inefficient scorer. Ili probably outplayed Sosa more than the other way around.

Ili should be their starting PG

Spatial Jam player metrics showed that Sosa crushed Ili but it certainly didn't look that way

A lot of Sosa's game was jacking up contested threes from what I saw.

Would love to see Fotu in the league but he signed a 2 year deal in July with a German team.

1. Import - Kevin Dillard Type Player
2. Newbill
3. Import - Torey Craig Type Player
4. Vukona
5. Pledger

6. Ili
7. Import - Athletic Rim protector
8. Abercrombie
9. Delaney
10. Loe
11. Ngatai

Wildcards - Ill ad Ty Waynard to this list
Tai Webster
Corey Webster
Issac fotu

Anon. That is a very similar team to the team I named first up.

I don't think Abercrombie starts. He is too inconsistent. I like a conger / Buford / Childress import and then have Abercrombie play a Ramon Moore type 6 man.

Isaac. Sosa was good. But he didn’t teally drive. Often didn’t play point guard instead played the two position. I understand he was the highest paid player. I reckon we could do better that’s all. Newbill defence was great and can play 1-2. I just rated him better. Ili looks to me he could start, but you need more than 2 decent guards. There is no one else in nz only really leaves an import position for the guard position. With Newbill and ili at 1. Why not get a specialist 2 guard? That was my thinking.

Ty Wynyard. Yes agree wildcard. Would be a disappointment for ty probably as he went to kyntucky with nba in his sights but hasn’t really come on.

Hawks - Delaney is a 4. Can’t play centre but is a 4

Other wildcards are gliddon and McCarron.

Further to my last post Childress type import is perfect. A 3 who can play 4

Not easy to find that quality though is it.

I wonder if the Breakers can get Wynyard as their NBA draft eligible player? Might make it pretty attractive to come back with $$ from the NBL as well as the Breakers?

Doubt it since they could just get him as a DP?

Yeah @anon I just used yours as a template.. I think we will see alot of guys coming back since they are the NZ Nat. Team core.

Only reason I have aborcombie starting as I think it's more important having an athleric rim protector off the bench then having a guy like conger over abocrombie. However if they can get Fotu or Webster it changes it all

What I would like to see

Starters
Tai Webster, Corey Webster, Tom Abercrombie, Mika Vukona, Import C (Ibekwe like player)

Bench
Shea Ili, Cheap Import 2 Guard (Jeremy Kendle?), Reuben Te Rangi, Jordan Ngatai, Finn Delany, Alex Pledger

Not sure how realistic it is getting both Webster brothers. But I think they need more dribble penetration and athleticism in the front court. The Webster brothers would give more than Sosa and Newbill Imo.
Would like to see Te Rangi back as well.

Te rangi. Yes I'd have him on radar as well. Forgot about him. Good call

Paul. Your call about Tai Wynyard also a good thought. Is there anyone else who might fall into this camp. Jack salt?

I also think if the get any two of Webster brothers and Fotu that would be very interesting. I don’t think they will get any. Corey has too much bad history there and Tai and Isaac aren’t ready to come back. But let’s pretend that get one Webster and fotu

It could look like this

1. Ili
2. Webster
3 import
4 fotu
5 pledger

6 Newbill
7 Delany
8 Abercrombie
9 vukona
10 loe

That is strong. Plus a third import spot and this nba player dev player to come.

Breakers need an import power forward and to bring Vukona off bench.
Fotu still has a year to go on German contract

Team assuming one Webster

Ili
Webster
Import
Vukona
Pledger

Newbill
Te rangi
Abercrombie
Deleany
Loe

I'd be inclined to save the import for mid season

Tai Wynard as possible nba dev player u guess
