Men’s Premier League Round 1

Woodville vs Norwood at ARC
Norwood have a consistent core & veteran leadership but will be integrating a new import without much practice time. Woodville have had a large turnover but veteran coach Whitmore had his imports here early & are already well established in their system. Their guard import couple be an early MVP favourite.

Woodville by 6 in an upset

Forestville vs West at Wayville
Despite playing at home Forestville will be lacking too much firepower with their 3 36ers worried about bigger things. West have reloaded & it will be very interesting to see James Legan in action after his broken leg.

West veterans to handle business by 11

Sturt vs Southern at Pasadena
Sturt seem to have had a large turnover of players but with the clubs depth of juniors it never seems to be a problem. Southern reloaded with some new imports & returning players. Will be interesting to see how both teams gel in their first games.

Southern by 4 but not with much confidence.

Eastern vs Centrals at Mt Barker
Will either team be suiting two imports? Centrals had better results in Waikerie so probably start favourites here but if Rios is available it could swing it.

Centrals by 9

North vs South at Hillcrest
Interesting game with both teams suiting up a lot of talent. Not sure who can contain Davis for North but likewise not sure who defends Stsrling the other way. Atem is key recruit for North this year & contributes to North having too much depth in this one.

North by 12

Should be a more open season than in last couple, new imports may be a big deciding factor. Don't agree with woodville imports, wasn't hugely impressed in games in preseason, do woodville have enough size with Carlin gone and Stanbridge defecting for ridiculous amount of cash.
Can norwoods coach control his veterans and not sold on their imports either, big not really mobile looking at tape and other is another gunner. Were they too worried about bringing in a point to take minutes away from older Webber?
Forestville have gone out and brought in half the sixers squad, can Teys dominate at this level and when will DJ suit up. Last effort with sturt he seemed to go through motions. West will miss Oldham but new guard seems a great replacement and other big a huge upgrade on Ridgeway who was suspended anyway and really just a role player who got into foul trouble a lot and couldn't shoot outside key. West easily.
Sturt going young again but Rawson a big in, huge part of their GF side a couple of years ago, and their veterans are pretty handy. Southern haven't really opened the chequebook this year with a marquee signing but imports have been here a while and upgrade on last year, plus return of Johns who know the system a major in. Should romp home easily.
Centrals have very young team and trying to suit second import who just arrived, could be a surprise packet but may struggle with inexperience, not helped by previous regime which was laughable and resulted in another exodus, losing Humphries to injury a major bloe. Eastern can only go up and Rios a sound addition, is their other import mobile enough to go along with size. Mauling Southern gave at riverland raises huge question marks, 30 points in a game?
North seem to have good chemistry but how long will it take for cj to get fitness. Al will have panthers running and gunning, will locals step up to support Davis who apparently has come back better than last year.

Norwood appointed Rogers with zero experience to please the veterans only.

Anon 866, your analysis is troubling. Your understanding of inner team workings is what's laughable.

What part? I didn't post it but for the start of the season I thought it was fairly accurate. I wouldn't say the clubs or BSA put much out there to go on. All you can look at is pre season tournaments in the Riverland & Millicent and unofficial scrimmages. PL reserves isn't anything to go on as its a high scoring no D comp with very little team structure.

So 873, what makes your knowledge of inner team workings so superior. Mines from talking to most coaches about games vs opponents and game tape.

I have heard Sturts import Nate Garth will easily be the best in the league. Good call. Get down to that game.

Why didn't Garth play? Bit of a let down. Think Sturt would have beaten Southern with a full team. Great crowd though.

Everett, the woodville import that was to tear it up and be in MVP talk had 2 points, 1-10, the only make was his first apparently. Woodville for wooden spoon.

I thought they must have had the Woodville imports backwards! The other guys numbers were solid.

Will Wise proving why he could be a Smokey for the league MVP

Wise was dominated by Martin. Got some cheapies in the end but shot low percentage and nearly half his teams shots. Ricardo nearly got triple double with 7 blocks on Wise. Mavs gonna be bottom by a long way, Wise only goes right, very easy to scout.

Has Martin improved from last year or maybe just improved because he has a guard to pass to him.

Tobias Dowdell is the most athletic import by a country mile.

Wise doesn't pass either! Extremely easy to scout as he has no left hand and will try and barge his way to the basket on any possession.

Dowdell more athletic than Starling? I think Alex is the most athletic we have seen for the past few years.
