Japan v Australian Boomers Fri 29th June

Really looking forward to this game.

Delly and Maker will be playing for the Boomers, which will make it worthwhile watching.

Rui Hachimura will be playing for the Japanese National team. Currently playing for the Gonzaga Bulldogs in College and is projected to be a 1st round draft pick in next years NBA Draft.

Should be a fun game to watch.

It will be telecast Live on Fox Sports.

I'll answer myself, http://www.livebasketball.tv has the game listed on their schedule. I guess it might be geoblocked within Australia, though.

No Creek, No Newley

Japan potentially bring in Hachimura, Watanabe, Schafer and a new naturalised big man in Fazekas.

Could be a tough game.

Japan has shown themselves to be one of the better Asian basketball teams but I think with Delly and Maker we should roll to a fairly comfortable win.

They have new players. This should be fun to watch. Hachimura did pretty good job with his stint on gonzaga.

Fazekas, Hachimura - will be factors. Same goes for Watanabe - if he makes himself available. From what i have seen of Schafer, he's not ready to be a factor.
Japan have a chance to win this. Fazekas is the key - if Watanabe plays moreso - the three new bigs (Hachimura, Fazekas, Watanabe) will negate the rebounding issues that cost Japan in the Adelaide game.

I have a hunch Boomers will lose to Japan and phillipines in a double road trip over the next 10 days or so..

We really could drop 2 games here.

6'4 Delly/6'1 Cadee
6'4 Goulding/6'3 Mccarron/6'2 Lisch
6'6 Gliddon/6'4 Sobey
6'10 Kickert/6'9 Kay/6'8 Wagstaff

Got to be at least 20 guys not available.

Okay looked up Fazekas and Hachimura, and we're going to have some problems inside with them. Once again Lemanis has chosen a strange team given the opponent we have. I guess we're placing our bets on our full court pressing and three point accuracy? Strange that we're going to play a more Asian style than an Asian team.

Also the Philippines will active some players that are missing in the 11st game. 2 tough games ahead. Lol.

It is a pity we didn't have enough time to add Daniel Johnson to the team list. After stealing Hodgson during mid-season talks at boomers camps and during round 1, Lemanis doesn't take him against a larger Japan line up?

FM - I imagine Lemanis didn't want 3 centres, so one of Hodgson or Brandt was dropped for Maker. IIRC Brandt started in the January Boomers' games, ahead of Hodgson? Brandt had a better NBL season than Hodgson.

Or maybe Lemanis wanted to get Brandt for Brisbane but couldn't, so went after Hodgson instead? ;)

Drmic a late inclusion for the injured Wagstaff

Yeah why not, Drimic obviously makes more sense than Johnson to replace the PF Wagstaff....

Moller looks a lot taller than 6ft 8" in this photo.

Would've been good back up in the 3 or 4.

Are you suggesting '2 dimensional photo' Craig Moller as a back up in the 3 or 4 or the actual Craig Moller?

I'm suggesting he’s taller than his recorded height, and he could be a useful back up three or four.

I was only joking and taking the easy hanging fruit.

Moller does keep impressing. Not sure if he warrants a place in the Boomers line up as yet but is definitely improving. He has earned extra minutes in the NBL and now playing in the SEABL for Hobart he has been a go to player in the 4th quarter for a competitive outfit.

Looks like Watanabe likely won't be suiting up for Japan (based on seeming silence in the media). Having him on the bench even if only with a few days practice with the team under his belt would have been a plus. Then again the JBA facebook page is always putting up photos from training camps - not this time - I wonder why?.

You're the guy that kept claiming Philippines are better than they actually were (amongst other teams) before Australia's debut in Asian qualifiers. You still haven't learned.

Are you on drugs? Hahaha. This moron saying stupid things. See this post FIBA WC Qualifers: Boomers V Philippines GT

I even said it will be an easy win for us. Shaking my head. People this days are very stupid.

The last one wasn't that easy. Philippines missing two very dangerous guards and Boomers won by 16. This time playing in front of 50,000 Filipinos it could be a danger game.

Oh wow, didn't realise our game vs PH is being played at the Philippine Arena (55,000 capacity).

Will it be a sellout Carl?
