Expansion Players for 2019/20

With one confirmed team (location unknown) and one likely team (Tasmania) time to speculate on who might be available for expansion clubs . Imports excluded.

This offseason saw alot of players lock in 2 or 3 year deals.

Who's available ?

Thoughts....

If its confirmed that we're definitely going to grow by two teams in the following season, then the league should allow a temporary increase this season, to 12 contracted players, and provide an incentive to ensure all teams top up their DP lists.

As we have seen so far, in a static climate, imports come and go, locals retire, and are replaced by guys coming back from college and by promoting DPs.
In aggregate, what happens when the league grows from a notional 64 locals to 80, is that fewer will retire, and more youngsters will be promoted. But it will still be a stretch, especially for the new teams.

Probably need to do something like allowing a temporary increase to 4 imports,

Yes a lot of multi-year deals at the moment and most were probably done knowing that new teams were on the horizon. You'd have to think that Tasmania would make for a nice landing ground for some Tasmanian talent, such as Chris Goulding, or somewhere for Adam Gibson to end his career. With Goulding all signed up, it wouldn't surprise me if they brought Gibbo in off the bench. And then there are some Aussies who might be finishing up with the NBA by then in maybe Matthew Dellavedova, Patty Mills, or potential NBA near-misses like Jock Landale or Deng Adel, and then all of the fringe NBL guys like Izzy Tueta, or even an aging Rhys Carter, Julian Khazzouh or Ben Madgen. Someone like Brock Motum might be done with Europe by then for all we know, or one of these teams could take someone like Tamuri Wigness rather than him go to college. There are definitely a lot of potential options however I also think import rule may need to increase to maintain the standard of the league.

Those players will distribute across the league too and some of the stars from elsewhere will land on the new teams. There should be enough talent to maintain the level of play, and at least some of those guys will be stars by the 2019/20 anyway.

If you had an extra team this year there is plenty of talent to make up a fairly competitive team like:

Import PG like Edgar Sosa / Shaun Bruce
Ben Madgen / Damon Heuir
Mitch Creek / Import Wing like Jerry Evans
Brock Motum / Chima Moneke / Felix Von Hofe
Import Big like Delvon Johnson / Jock Landale / Tom Garlepp

12 guys that arent in the NBL this year that certainly are capable of playing in the league. you'd have to spend some money to get Motum and Madgen back but thats why you get good role players in 2 import spots like Evans & Johnson.

Gibson would be a good pick for captain.
Would be a backup to an import but still could lead the team.
