"Disappointing not to see Donnelly or Nicholson on that list."

Why? Because some noob with zero Opals experience is suddenly going to make the final team for the worlds? lol

A top 6 finish would be a great result.
Our frontcourt is fine. Not the best without Tolo, Batkovic and Blicavs...
Backcourt has no depth. Worst it has been in sometime.

Whitcomb s ability to put points on the board should push Mitchell out imo.
We have smith, George etc who can cover Griffin at pf.

We don't have another good option at PG, Mitchell will be there

Clearly she's not guaranteed a spot if the other 2 are there.

Hopefully they can take Smith to help her gain valuable experience even if not in the official squad

Smith already has the exp.

Other than Cambage our front court looks weak to me. Forget experience I think Smith makes it on merit too.

Bunton was the next inline after Tolo anyway with no Batkovic.
Magbegor is not ready, so too Garbin.
Smith has already shown she can compete at the Asia cup.
George is locked in with Cambage.

Smith and George at pf.
Cambage and Bunton at C.

Magbegor and Garbin need exp
Griffin loses her spot through injury or because of the naturalisation rule,

Think we might play 4 guards around Cambage with Talbot or Allen at the 4.

Hurst, Wilson, Donnelly > Lavey.

"Think we might play 4 guards around Cambage with Talbot or Allen at the 4"

that would be insane

Not really, Talbot and Allen are both 6'2, like Griffin.

Cambage to put team on back to medal to prove herself.

I wasn't comparing Allen to Griffin apart from the size.
If Allen hangs out at the perimeter, she takes the oppositions pf with her. If they double Cambage, it leaves Allen open for the 3.
Griffin is an undersized 4 who hustles for rebounds and points. Think she'll struggle against bigger teams. Dominated Asian opponents though.

Think we will finish 6th.

USA-Gold
Spain-Silver
Japan-Bronze
France
Canada
Australia-6th
Turkey
Belgium
China
The other 7...

Well we should win our group. Then we'd most likely play the winner of Japan / China.

If we top our group, we will play Belgium or china most likely(both beatable). A win in the 1/4s sets us up with France or Canada in the semi final. This is our best route to get a medal.

Finish 2nd in our group to turkey and we play Greece or Korea in the round of 16 and USA in the 1/4s(a likely loss leaving us playing for 5-8 place) semi finals still to play against Japan/Spain.

opponents will happily leave Allen open for the 3 since she is a brick factory. meanwhile she struggles to guard 3s let alone 4s!

She's actually a good defender now. Before she was terrible.

Hurst, Wilson, Donnelly > Lavey.

Completely agree with you, i cant belive she has been selected again! She has done absolutely nothing with her opportunities.

My starting 5 would be

Ebzery
Whitcomb
Ohea
George
Cambage

If the shooters can fire, we might do ok.

Don't think Mitchell brings enough points to the table. Last time she had a better surrounding cast to score the points.
