European Championships

Have been looking at scores for this comp on www.eurobasket.com and was slightly surprised to see 3 US born players involved, especially as there are a black player in both the Russian (Jon Holden) and German (Demond Greene) teams. Holden is the first ever US player to play for Russia and is starting as their PG. The third player (Christopher Watson) plays for Israel, but that is probably not quite as suprising as the other 2.
Slovenia, Spain, Russia & Latvia have already qualified for quarter finals. Winners of these games also progress -

Serbia-Montenegro v France, Germany v Turkey,
Greece v Israel and
Croatia v Italy.

I'm actually in Greece at the moment and there's a fair bit of coverage over here on it. Saw parts of France Greece a few nights ago and Greece restricted France to 14 points in the first half. 14 points!! And this is a team with Tony Parker running the show and playing big minutes. Crazy.

NOt sure how it's progressing but you'd have to say this would be the third biggest international ball comp in the world (behind World Champs and Olympics), countries are playing full strength sides and competition is pretty fierce, would have been great to get to a few games but it's not to be, it might just have to be the world cup in Germany next year instead!!
