Travis Trice named in Team USA squad

The USA is sticking with its plan of sending a team made of free agents and G-League players coached by Jeff Van Gundy — who have gone 5-1 so far in qualifying — and on Monday announced the 14 players who are coming to USA Basketball training camp, 12 of whom will be on the team that will face Uruguay and Panama next month. The players are:

• Bryce Alford (Oklahoma City Blue)
• Dwayne Bacon (Charlotte Hornets)
• V.J. Beachem (Free Agent)
• Jordan Crawford (New Orleans Pelicans)
• Henry Ellenson (Detroit Pistons)
• Isaiah Hicks (New York Knicks)
• Reggie Hearn (Grand Rapids Drive)
• Dakari Johnson (Free Agent)
• Frank Mason III (Sacramento Kings)
• Ben Moore (Fort Wayne Mad Ants)
• Chasson Randle (Capital City Go-Go)
• Travis Trice (Milwaukee Bucks)
• Jameel Warney (Texas Legends)
• Derrick White (San Antonio Spurs)

I just don't see the point of this shit>

Forcing the USA to "qualify" against Panama is not even a joke.

FIBA would almost be better off running it like the America's Cup was(is?) run. All the challenging nations competing for the right to play America.

I'd love to see the USA send a bunch of High School kids to qualify, lose, then sit back and laugh their arses off as FIBA tried to run a WC without them.

Is it wrong that i agree with AD? Boomers playing fiji n the like is similar i guess. You want to keep the national jersey relevant but dont wanna risk injury to proffesional players OR play amateurs who dont deserve it so we r in this middle ground where we give certain NBL players who dont deserve a boomers jersey on.

Similar to the Boomers with Wagstaff, Drmic and other NBL guys who are nowhere near our A team but good enough to get the job done in qualifying.

Out of interest, who did USA lose to in their 5-1 record?

FIBA should acknowledge REALITY with these pointless qualifying games. Why test the twentieth string US team when none of them will be in the final squad, and with GOOD reason??
