The NBL cracked the top 20 most watched things on Foxtel

I've been a bit negatively lately, but when I see positive news, I share it and give credit.

The NBL cracked the top 20 most watched things on Foxtel yesterday with the post game panel show "The NBL Wrap", for the first time in recent memory, drawing 33,000 eyes and competing fairly strongly against the A League and Moto GP. Numbers of 33,000 are about what we might have expected for the Grand Final series last year, and not Sydney merely playing a small market team in Cairns as early as Round 3. The NBL is definitely growing, and maybe I am wrong about what does and doesn't attract fans lol.

It is fair to assume the actual game drew about the same numbers as well.

I cant find those numbers but I do know that Adelaide and Cairns got 26K, and that is also a good number for the NBL this early in the season. I don;t know what recent 9Go numbers are but I know that the first game of the season scored 65K there. I'll be keeping my eye out for regular updates.

Hey, feel free to flesh that out for us. Who, where, when? I am interested to know what outsiders think. Any details etc would be of great interest.

I'm one of those people that talks basketball all day everyday and last week my dad was in charge of his works weekly betting. He heard me talking about it and put an nbl game in there.

All his work mates watched the game (Adelaide v cairns) and were shocked at how entertaining it was and watched more nbl this weekend with many saying they will watch every round.

Obviously it has its social dangers, but I have wondered if and how much betting could get people interested in the games.

I know that I'm more likely to watch games if I'm involved in a fantasy comp or have a bet on. Fantasy at least is not a bad strategy by the league IMO. I'd be pushing a round-based game if I were them. Seems like they have something besides the main season-long one but I've never seen them promote it.

Cheap booze and free porn would also help get people in

One thing I do know is that the burgers are better at Hungry Jacks. Mainly because I'm told twice every ad break.

They give out a key word when a player misses two free throws in a single trip to the foul line. You put this code into your app and you get a voucher I think. But you must be in the same state as where the game is that the free throws were missed.
