Media coverage increased this off season

The NBL released some stats on off season media coverage:

"MEDIA COVERAGE OF THE HUNGRY JACK'S NBL CONTINUES TO GROW EVEN IN THE OFF-SEASON. According to Meltwater, between April and October there were 36,503 pieces of media coverage (print, online, TV & radio) which generated an advertising equivalent value of $131.7 million.

This represents a significant uplift in coverage compared to the same period last year.

* Online coverage +146%
* Television +152%
* Radio +66%

The NBA X NBL games generated the most coverage, with 5,923 mentions and generating an advertising equivalent value of $31.2 million. "

What does advertising equivalent value mean and are those numbers good?

With the NBA games worth $31m in advertising, I'd say it was worth the time and the alleged $80k that teams had to pay.

It's what it would have cost them to buy that exposure.
