Sixers v Snakes Nov 23

Does anyone have any reports of a weeping Madonna? No?

Cairns on the slide would be looking for signs of a miracle. I don't think it will come tonight.

Cairns need to be out of the blocks early, but even the notoriously slow Sixers seem to catch up when they want to. For Cairns to win, they need to take advantage of the Sixers third quarter woes to put the pressure on at the start of the fourth.

Sixers with an extra week to bring Conger into the fold and for him to learn the plays should be able to get this one. The Sixers have plenty of reasons to win and have a good supply of anti-venom on the bench.

Sixers by double figures

Yeah, Cairns aren't winning this one. Adelaide found themselves last week and Conger is only going to get better. This is the time when Adelaide will confirm themselves as a top four team and start separating themselves from the Hawks, Bullets and Taipains of the league. Adelaide by 15. Trimble will have a good game though.

36ers were down, referees panicked. They realised that if the 36ers lose tonight, they will not be popular.

So they made an adjustment.

The refereeing in this league is a sham. No wonder the TV ratings are embarrassing.

Are the referees in the break panicking? I mean, the nost certainly want Adelaide to win, but do they just f##ck it, if it means the 36ers taking 30 more free throws and it means a 36ers win?

Be interesting what the referees are thinking here.

I reckon the only way to make NBL pay some attention to the reffing fiasco is for the losing team to just take off their stars for the last quarter or even the whole second half.

Why risk getting your stars injured when % doesn't matter anyway? Turn it into a meaningless game and give the NBL the finger. (The bench players would love the practice anyway.)

Mike Kelly alluded to the issues he had with recruiting in the interview he did on Aussie Hoopla. He was appointed the Head Coach the day free agency opened up, and although he's too smart to say it, you get a sense that he had to pick over the dregs of what was left after other teams had swooped in and grabbed the pick of the bunch. I'm disappointed they have started so poorly this year but I'm more interested in how Mike Kelly fares once he's had a proper run into next year's free agency.

Entertaining game.
Pity the thread is spoilt by the usual idiots bitching about the refs.

My personal view is that flops should just be play on, but I understand they are trying to discourage the behaviour.
Any flop call is going to be contentious, that's the very nature of the incident. I can certainly see how the ref may have interpreted it that way, from what I saw the impact was only glancing and at at angle.
Not saying I'm right, nor the ref, but its his call, and its one FT, so get over it.

The problem Cairns have is that their defence sucks. If you go back a few years to the Wildcats stifling defence, they would win with lower score than the snakes are getting. Unfortunately their stars can't score enough alone to cover that lack of D.

Haven't seen so much consistent ref-bagging for a very long time. Which, for me, is encouraging. Let me explain. I, too, bag and blame refs for results etc. I also know that I am biased. But to see this much "hate" on this game's refs really makes me think that we are heading towards pro wrestling's idea of fair play. Is the NBL's owner's real name Larry McManus?

I agree on this occasion with AD. I'm not sure it was a good decision, it it wasn’t indefensible. The defender went catapulting backwards from what looked like reasonably incidental contact. The commentators went way over the top in criticising the decision, it certainly wasn’t a clear charge.

The point isn't whether or not it was a charge the point is that it was a ridiculous situation to call a flop. There is often not much separating a charge and a block but a flop needs to be obvious otherwise don't call it.
