Brisbane vs Perth, 21 Dec 2018

What a tough game for Sixers fans. Half of me wants Brisbane to lose so the Sixers changes of #4 spot improve. The other half of me wants Perth to be shellacked with Gibbo dropping 20, Jace dropping 30 and Hodgson dunking over Wildcats at will (ala Cecil style, woop, woop)

The fact is, this will be another close game. Cotton will obviously put up another stirring performance that will demand the refs give him 3 MVP points. Lamar Patterson won't have any of that and will be making sure those 3 points are his. The matchups may look awkward at times, but actually work well for both teams depending on the play.

Perth have looked awkward of late, and Brisbane have looked the goods when they all turn up to play.

I'm actually thinking if Lemanis can stopping pacing and chatting to the refs (actual conversation the other game) "Hey, were you talking to me?" "No, I was talking to myself asking myself "what the hell was that call for?"" Brisbane might be able to squeeze the toothpaste tube to get the last drop out. Of course Perth will be there flicking their bums with a wet towel while they are doing that.

Oh, surely Perth can be that woeful? Cotton to do another "Cotton" and sink a 3 on the siren to take the game. Dagger to the heart for those Brisbane fans.

Really? this is the most anticipated game thread write everyone was complaining about before the last cats game?

Unimaginative, dull and uninformed - refs don't give out mvp votes.

It's just a bunch of played out tropes. I expected better.

Cats need to go back to their defensive roots and build from there. Can't leave guys like Te Rangi open outside the 3pt arc like last time. Bump up Damo's minutes to lead by example. Not sure if Brandt was playing or at full health last time these teams met?

If we drop another one and Terrico has a stinker, I think I'll have to join the section of the army that thinks he needs replacing. :(

The only reason they are seen as flops is because of all the ridiculous charge calls in the NBL. If they called more blocks (like they should), defensive flops will be eliminated organically.

A side effect would be more scoring which is what they desperately need in the NBL too.

Don't really think we have had anyone arguing he shouldn't have gone. Even though he probably shouldn't (because it wasn't really a flop) but he doesn't have anyone to blame but himself.

Gonna make the game more interesting when the bullets start playing small ball due to foul issues on their bigs and our rotations are stretched with lack of options.

Really sets up an interesting 2nd half in how two good coaches try to influence the game with team setups

Perth fans better get used to the idea of running with only two imports. Cotton is on massive dollars so no room in the budget for a third import and Gleeson has said they wont be. Perthworld, in a close game i genuinely felt we missed a few we should have got, the no charge, no block no flop call comes to mind. The league is close, and calls seem to still be very inconsistent. Its not like in our last couple losses (not united) we haven't really made more or less mistakes than the oposition, so i think calls do come into it. The team could always be better, but its wrong to think we can just be better than everyone else buy buying a new import etc.

Seems to be a worrying trend lately fading late in games. Started with blowing the big lead against sydney last week. Some signs have been encouraging of how good they can be to get that far in front to begin with. But perhaps it is the ageing group that is fading late in games.

Im backing wagstaff to come good again. Theres been other seasons where hes struggled for periods but he finds a way to get back into form for finals. Dont forget how many massive clutch buckets hes hit at important times for this club.

Norton's absence was significant down the stretch. He is able to take advantage of Cotton focus and usually penetrates and gets to the line. Martin was pretty much a passer Left Cotton too much to do on his own.
White might have been a better point if they were going to use a high pick and roll. He looks like he has a decent pull up J.

Would be good if the NBL website actually had players stats.

"Don't need a third import, just a decent second one"

Well FMD, There's your "Christmas Miracle" I'm going to agree with Kobe.

White was supposed to improve our outside shooting but he is way too inconsistent. Only gets decent scores by throwing up a lot of shots, and only against 2nd rate teams. Goes MIA against the top two.

And I'm not even convinced its the Right type of player. Trev said we wanted a Prather/Ennis Hybrid. Instead we got a 2nd rate shooting guard.
