Victorian U18 teams announced for AJCs

Same girls make the teams - don't get me wrong looking at the list there are some girls on there that work hard and made the side on effort, but really others have just in there based on the fact they played every other year!!!

P.S Don't have a child anywhere near a basketball team anymore.

Always interesting when a coach from club has 5 players from the same club selected in team, along with his son.

Selections are always subjective and 10 coaches would likely have 10 different teams but there is now a lot of pressure for that VJBL team to win everything. (btw they didn't make the grand final of the Eltham/Dandenong tourney over the weekend)

^ It shouldn't surprise you they didn't make the E/D GF when half their team didn't play on the weekend...

In actual fact, the team that lost the semi final had all 5 x state reps plus 2 x state emergencies.

So if half the team is missing then not sure who they were.

Granted there were 3 players that were at ADC all week leading into the game and would have been quite fatigued.

Interesting to see how they go during the season.

Probably have players making the team, because his history as a coach is as good as anyone, if you are referring to DP.
Juniors and seniors, over a long period of time. Which is probably why he's the u19 national team coach now?

The only thing that matter is that the Vic's win each and every year and at all age groups.

When they don't win questions are asked and people/players aren't selected moving forward.

Never seen or heard of a few of those selected.
Hopefully the games are streamed.
This 02/03 age group seems to lack depth in comparison to 99/00/01 group
Rarely see vic women have 3-4 bottom agers in each team.

Grant Wallace must be held accountable for these selections and performances. He also needs to be punted from BV. Dude is hopeless and only gives jobs to the boys.

Son of coach wins out again for Vic Metro. he would not start for any other VC team, or Met 1 for that matter either. Crazy stuff.

A coach should never be appointed a State position in an age group that includes his kids.

There must be enough quality coaches in Victoria that parents don't need to coach state teams.

^ which would be pretty much picked already... Emu's who qualified through Asia were a good roster so Probs not many changes, if any... wait and see I guess!

Different team...
WC team is 00/01 players for this year. Pretty much already chosen with already many players playing in the NCAA.

The new crop of 02/03 players start oceania later this year. Asia 2020, wc 2021.

QLD teams are dominant in this age group for both girls and boys. QLD north boys might not be as strong without tamuri wigness there but i expect the QLD teams to have a run at the top spots

The Grant Wallace comment above is pretty out of line - as far as i can tell he is held accountable for results and selections, most of which have been outstanding.
As for hiring the boys... were you unsuccessful applying for a role ;) ?

TBH the results of Vic teams doesn't really represent either a good or poor performance from any of the officials/coaches involved.

With the depth of talent in Victoria, a majority of the time they are going to be competing for gold medals unless the other states have strong age group which happens time to time.

As shown previously when the Vics have entered 2 teams in a championship and they are both in medal contention.

As long as the coach is half decent then they can't really miss the medals...
