Interestingly there was a provision whereby a 25% sign on fee was paid to the Cuban Baseball Federation for each player signed to the MLB. Also...
"attorneys for Major League Baseball noted that Japan, South Korea and China had similar deals in which league payments were made to national federations".
Can you imagine if the NBL or BA teamed up with other foreign Associations and played hardball with the NBA over how much money went to them when a foreign player got a contract?
