Kenyon Martin Jr skipping college, going pro

Another highly rated prospect going pro hot on the heels of RJ Hampton's decision last week, could the NBL be a possible destination for this famous name?

Remember when the son of the NBA All Time assist leader played in the NBL?

That was a valuable lesson that name means nothing.

Interesting...

I sit unusual?? We're talking about it because of Next Stars, but are their kids that do this every year?

What is the thinking behind it?
Are these kids that would struggle academically at college?
Are they looking for valid alternative pathways to the NBA, or they just trying to maximise their career earnings??

If you knew that you were never going to make it to the NBA and that $1M payday, and that your best hope was bumming around the other leagues of the world until your 30's, then it would make sense not to waste 4 years playing for free in college.

Different I guess if you were academically strong, and could turn that free eduction into a valuable degree and therefore a career. But struggling through a degree in American Literature, with 2.01 GPA probably not worth it.

Taurean Prince and Denzel Valentine also in the same draft as Buddy Hield, Frank Kaminsky the year before

Sounds like these kids want to just train and play in great league to get drafted instead of going through motions of going to class. Martin won't need education as dad is loaded. Can always go back to school without scholarship as most students do. Simmons made it a point that college was a joke to him, at least now it's not as open having grades "helped" by teachers, tutors and other students just so they can play. Or doing some random class to keep ncaa of their back.
Actually looking good that our league is being treated as a nursery opposed to couple of previous experiments in China where it was mainly a cash grab.
