2019 FIBA World Cup - how to watch for free legally

So with the World Cup beginning in a month I thought I'd share this tip which will allow you to watch the tournament for free legally.

In Australia Fox Sports hold the rights to the 2019 FIBA World Cup. In the past the only way to view this would be via Foxtel.

There is a promotion active at the moment between Kayo Sports and BetEasy where members of the latter receive a free three month trial to the former.

Kayo Sports is a sports streaming service joint venture between Fox Sports, ESPN & beIN Sports launched last year. Basically the majority of sports channels available on Foxtel air on it live and on demand.

BetEasy are an online bookmaker created through the merger of CrownBet and William Hill last year.

All current BetEasy customers received a voucher code to redeem a three month Kayo trial. The offer ends on 31/07/2019 which would cover you for August, September and October. FIBA World Cup runs from 31 August to 15 September.

The beauty of this offer is that even if you aren't a member you can sign up for an account now and a code will appear, without requiring you to deposit any funds let alone place a bet.

There is one trick however - once your Kayo account is setup don't cancel your trial straight away or else it will revert to one month free rather than three, unless you aren't interested in other sports.

The free period will cover you until around the end of October so you can even catch the opening weekend of NBA before the trial is up.

An NBA League Pass spam email sent on June 11 mentions the World Cup as upcoming on its service. It offers no details about what games are to be shown, so it might only be USA games. Anyone know more about that?

NBL1 Finals to also be aired on Kayo:

Australia's second division basketball league, NBL1, will showcase its Championship Games live on Kayo Sports this weekend.

The inaugural NBL1 season, which commenced in March this year, was a collaboration between Basketball Victoria and the National Basketball League and took over the now-defunct South East Australia Basketball League (SEABL).

The NBL1 women’s Championship Game between Geelong Supercats and Kilsyth Cobras will be live-streamed on Kayo Sports this Saturday, August 17 at 5:00 pm AEST, followed by the NBL1 men’s Championship Game between Nunawading Spectres and Bendigo Braves at 8:00pm AEST.

NBL Chief Executive, Jeremy Loeliger, said: "We have been delighted with the progress NBL1 has made in its inaugural season and we are excited that Kayo Sports will live-stream the Championship Games.

“Being on the Kayo Sports platform brings NBL1 to a new audience that can watch one of Australia’s premier winter basketball leagues."

The move is a significant win for the basketball team’s major sponsors, with the streaming partnership providing expanded exposure to Kayo Sports 382,000 subscribers.

Cam Luke, Liam Santamaria and Mark Worthington will commentate the NBL1 Championship Games.

In addition to the NBL1 Championship Games, basketball fans can stream every game of the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup on Kayo.

Starting with the opening clash on August 31, all 92 games will be available LIVE and on demand via Kayo, with subscribers able to stream the action straight to their TV or favourite device.

Kayo Sports is Australia’s dedicated multi-sports streaming service with over 50 sports live and on-demand.

So it looks like Kayo will be screening all of the World Cup games now, not just the games previously listed as being shown on Foxtel

This is great news. I'm guessing they're just taking the direct FIBA feed rather than using their own commentators etc, and wit Kayo being only streaming, they don't have to worry about taking up time of other channels. Love it

That's right, which makes this freebie even better!

Games overlap a fair bit. Does Kayo have the ability to multiscreen? Might have to watch the Dons in the finals at the same time too...

So after joining Kayo's three month free trial through BetEasy, BetEasy is now asking for my ID details. Is it possible to ignore that and just keep watching Kayo?
