Hillcrest Stadium change over

So Lightsview is very close now. Fantastic for the basketball community and much needed. Wondering if North / BSA are planning a last day at Hillcrest event ? Ive been going there for years and would call in for a BBQ etc if something was planned and I was free. I understand Hillcrest will be demolished Y/N ?

No famous hot dogs on a Friday night at the new stadium. Block the move!

Five full-size courts at Lightsview. Two premier courts and three multipurpose courts in the back building.

thought a 3rd court at the ARC was full size - it runs across the other 3 ?

Yes they do but can it be used for District basketball? The lines are a nightmare for this court. I am unaware of any District games played there - in fact at times North get "evicted" from Hillcrest for their home games so that Norwood can play their home games there

If ever there was a waste of taxpayers money then the ARC is it!

Let the smart arse groaners loose. Only 5 courts. Too many lines. Arc is a great community centre. Let's not forget that.

Yes Arc is a great community centre. It just isn't a great basketball stadium and has no chance of ever running an AJC.

AJC not a factor surely it's the viabliity and usability. ARC clearly wins allroubdhere for community engagement. Which has signifucant spinoffs for basketball.

So the budget blew out from 18 million to over 30 million,PAE-council could have built West Adelaide a stadium with the difference. Why does this complex have 2 buildings?

I'm not sure where the 18 mill and 30 mill came from. I thought the figure was 24 mill.

Anyone know if the court they will use for premier league will be named after Jo again?

Sure as hell wont be the Bijan Johnson court even though he contributed enough bricks for another court.

Typical cost blowouts when government departments involved. I would like to see a price comparison for a private build of a basketball stadium. Some private schools have some pretty decent gymnasiums and would not have spent anywhere near this amount.

Can you confirm courts are full size. Fear could be arc over again.

All 5 courts FIBA size with FIBA run-off as well

AJC can be hosted there

Air conditioned and heated

Show court has 36er rings as at TSA

Lighting suited for TV on courts 1 & 2

Has camera set-up for use for real time human movement analysis

It is not another ARC Council has been very good in learning from other mistakes and consulting heavily with North and BSA

My understanding was that 18 months ago the project was revisited and expanded after consultation with key stakeholders. There is no cost blow out as such but and expansion of the original proposal
