Breakers sign Ater Majok

The New Zealand Breakers have signed Ater Majok, per a source. Majok, a 6'10 big-man, was born in Sudan before growing up in Sydney. He’ll be signed as a local player.

Good pick up! Starred for Lebanon in FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

It's a fair enough question if you don't know the different rules.
For FIBA purposes, he is Lebanese.
But the NBL import rules aren't based on FIBA classification. He has dual (possibly triple) citizenship, and so can play in the NBL as a local.

Good pickup for the Breakers, nice to see another player coming "home."

Not sure why nbl clubs don't go after those top Asian players outside of China and Japan.

Had an impact at Perth and Gold Coast when he played a while ago when he was much younger.

Was the last played drafted in the 2011 NBA draft. Any insight as to why he switched his national allegiance to Lebanon?

Guys like ratclife from Korea would be great pickups, on smaller salaries and fit in as Asian Import.

Far out he's around 32 years old now!... I still remember him flying through the air for ridiculous block attempts for the 'Cats

He had some serious talent, should have stayed at UConn and learnt more. But being a NBA draft pick shows what the pros thought his upside being. But the rumours of his dodginess at Perth scared off a lot of nbl teams. Will be interesting to see how he goes.

As for his switched allegiance I think you'll find money 1st, 2nd and 3rd reason.

Gee, another Sudanese player.

So many players in the NFL that are not Australian born and raised.
