FIBA vs NBA

There seems to be just long enough between major international tournament that folks (mainly NBA-only types, Johnny come latelys and youngsters) forget that FIBA basketball is not the NBA. The geometry of the court is different, the offensive and defensive rules, and thus schemes, are different - and the chemistry of teams is massively important. Quantity of NBA players is nice but simply doesn't equate to medal chances. It would be amazing if this filtered into the discourse.

Look the USA clearly have better athletes/depth of talent as its simple weight of numbers and legacy (NCAA) development systems.

The NBA has effectively become a spread pick and roll league which is harder to execute in FIBA due to the Court, Physicality, Rules etc.

FIBA is pure basketball as the NBA is modified basketball to produce an entertainment product hence the difference in look/style of play.

This is why a number of fringe NBA guys have gone to Europe and not done well whilst others have thrived in Europe but can't make the jump to the NBA.
