Premier league coaches advertisements

A lot of advertisements for new coaches recently. Have the previous coaches definitely stepped down or is it just a procedural thing? Wasn't Woosnam supposed to oversee the west women from afar, will that still be the case if a new coach is announced. Joynes already moved on with Johnson returning. Would say Centrals women job is open as well and surprised Woodville haven't sought applications for the men or are they going with a lame duck again, if he didn't have mates on board surely he would be gone, only gone downhill since he took over. Sturt have acted quickly in appointing there's. Anyone else looking? Or will the auditors have a say down morphett vale?

Big commitment for all involved. Tough going on for year after year. Might be time for some who just want a break. Good opportunity for others out there I guess. Wouldn't read into too much to be honest.

There's always a mass advertisement around this time.

Being a PL coach is pretty hard and time consuming with the pay similar to that of an aid worker scrubbing the septic tanks clean in some 3rd world Pacific Island nation before it sinks into the briny.

However, for those who love the game and who have aspirations of become a NBL assistant coach, a PL coach is the perfect stepping stone, albeit some of those stepping stones could be crocodiles.

The burn out would be higher than social workers working in Daveron Park

My tip is a new coach for Norwood men's team. Maybe an ex-player who is a Webber puppet.
Just a suspicion.

Agreed, Rojo staying. Who is this ex player puppet, why bring him in when the puppet is there already. Can't see them signing a rookie coach nor an experienced coach who would change the culture. The current group will stay until very end and the results will be a squad that makes South look like the 90s Bulls.

ANNOUNCEMENT | Men's Premier League Coaches

We’d like to announce David Morrell and Mike Osborne as the Men’s Head Coach & Assistant Coach for 2020.

We would also like to take a moment to acknowledge the huge commitment from Dean Nyberg over the last 4 years in the Head Coach role at Southern Tigers. The success you have brought to the club has been truly something amazing - and we truly believe you deserved Coach of the Year, particularly in both of those years that you brought us Championships.

David & Mike both have amazing experience in the basketball world, see their successes below:

DAVID MORRELL is a basketball coach and personal trainer that has worked in the United States with high level basketball players – professionals, division 1 and 2 NCAA players, and top high school athletes that are seeking college scholarships. He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Neuroscience, and a Master’s Degree in Special Education. He was an assistant coach for the Woodville Warriors Premier League team this past season, and before that coached boys basketball at the highest level of high school basketball in the state of Nevada for 5 years. He is a high energy, enthusiastic coach that knows how to develop players at a very high level.

MIKE OSBORNE is a Noarlunga City Tigers Coaching Icon who has agreed to come back on board to assist with the PL programs and get involved in coaching Development across Seniors/Junior teams:
- Premier League Coach at Southern Tigers for over 10 years (2 Championships)
- State Country Coach (5 Years)
- Junior Assistant Coach for Australian Teams
- Inaugural 36ers Head Coach
- NBL Head Coach for 4 Years (3 Years with Adelaide 36ers)
- State Director of Coaching (SA)
- Coach of the Year (SA)

Wouldn't get too excited, Micks a legend but only assisting. Head coach for all the spin it only says he coached high school ball. Won't have the budget of last few years, seems snagging the wife would've been instrumental in the appointment.
Saw Norwood are having tryouts in 2 weeks, any announcements there or was it just bullshit again and Rojo had job in bag anyway.

Yep. Actually the President, Vice President and Secretary, plus at least one committee member.

They'd want to make sure all that cash pouring in from local league comps is being allocated according to stakeholder needs and expectations otherwise they will lose them and just become a club that runs social basketball.

Prob as qualified as most club presidents. That is not the point though. Who is keeping them in check? Are they there to build the club and support the goals of the membership or for their own benefits?

So was Deano fired, quit or nudged out? Would have to say he was pushed because of financial scandal, but would think a clean break would be warranted after basically bankrupting the club. Or was it part of the agreement by the parent that bailed them out that he has to bring him a coffee every Sunday training.

Reply #760934 | Report this post

Seriously how does one person in Dean's position bankrupt the club. The blame has to lay fairly and squarely with the management committee in particular the president and treasurer for not managing the financial position better

Reply #761408 | Report this post

The president and treasurer should definitely put a stop to it, but surely he would've known the financial strain he was putting on club if he had to put his own hand in his pocket as well.

Reply #761412 | Report this post

The only one able to authorise payment would be the treasurer I would have thought. If the committee gave him the money to spend I also don't see how it’s the coach who is to blame.

but being a premier league championship is all he cared for

not really interested in club or kids that play their

I think everyone can agree that the President and Treasurer and members of the committee are to blame for 99%, and who wouldn't like to be aboard that gravy train. But from memory, wasn't there rumblings about financial issues before this past season. In that case Dean should have been more prudent in his spending if he wanted to help the club.

8th??? Might be battling it out with South and Eastern at this stage. But I think its a bit similar to Lebron and Cleveland where they spent up big to win now and the consequence of being one of the worst teams in league now. Was it worth it for Southern to win a couple of titles but now leave the club in a mess?

Reply #761574 | Report this post

Yea it has been left in an absolute mess. Prob a good move for Johns as he has not really been developed enough in the Southern environment from where he was. Still a very good player, and still a lot of time to flourish in his new team.

Also a good chance for certain juniors that were promised the world and then recruited over to finally have an opportunity. Messes like the one created ultimately breed opportunity and those kids will make the most of it.
