Basketball and Captains.

Just wondering wether the game of Basketball has its captains, and what impact they have.

I'm new to the game, ( BB ) my kids play it. But ive always been a traditional Cricketer and Aussie Rule follower. Captains have an impact in these games.

Is Basketball too quick for a Captain to have much impact ??

Or can an experienced player on the court make much difference ?.

They do have captains and yes they have to be an important leader on the court, and off it. Brett Maher has been an amazing captain for the Adelaide 36ers for many years.

at a junior level captain's are not really needed (IMO). The only 'role' a basketball captain would undertake is to ask referees a question. Since this isn't a taught practice, they are more of a figurehead.

Of course at higher levels, (18's +) they can be good role models, and in Brett Maher's situation, an inspiration.

To answer your questions:

Yes.
Yes for juniors, no for seniors.
debatable.
