nbl1 player movements

I apologies if there is already a post on this subject but i wasn't able to locate

are there any confirmed or anticipated player movements for next year?

With news of Mount Gambier now in the league I assume there will be a couple of players headed there.

Geelong have signed Smith-Milner, Kernich-Drew and Gatlin. Opening up the purse strings by the looks of it.

Don't think those three Geelong signings would cost to much.

Be interesting to see if the Australian players that played in the nznbl last season come back to nbl 1.

NZBL probably paying twice what NBL1 is.
Equally NBL1 probably paying less than what SEABL was.

Why would nbl1 players be paid less than Seabl

Because it's now a lesser competition.

"Because it's now a lesser competition."

Lol, lesser in the amount of conferences perhaps , but way deeper in its talent pool and a far superior product, it's first year was a total, success especially as far as exposure is concerned, which is a great thing, after NBL and WNBL it’s streets ahead of any other comp.

Lol, a few nz nbl teams can't even pay there players on time or at all.

Not only NZ teams don't play players on time. Seabl was stronger in its final year as the better nbl players went to nznbl. Nunawading won the GF but got spanked the previous year.

"Don't think those three Geelong signings would cost too much." Are you serious? Smith-Milner and Kernich-Drew would have both been on good coin at Kilsyth and Dandenong. Do you really think they'd change clubs for less?

Heard a rumour about a current NBL starter going to Geelong as well. They'll be spending heaps don't worry about that! Wouldn't be surprised if a fair bit of the women's budget is being transferred over to the men now that Herbert is gone.

Yes Anon #530,

Basketball is thriving in our state, look at the many ways:

Massive participation and grassroots support for the sport.

Melbourne United a NBL power with SEM set to build the local rivalry and further build the sport here. And provide opportunities for talented local players.

The man who saved basketball is 100% behind Victorian basketball. Basketball in this country is controlled and run out of Victoria.

Melbourne recently hosted the two biggest basketball events ever in Australia.

Highest state representation in the World Cup Boomers.

Comprehensive structural support already exists with the state government committed to substantial further resourcing for infrastructure.

Tremendous depth of quality coaching available and ever increasing opportunities for young people to get involved with the sport.

Ongoing domination of underage national competition's across all age groups with our huge participation rates, excellent facilities and coaching depth making us always the teams to beat.

We have the best winter league, with NBL1 providing a nation leading competition for Victorian associations to participate in and local players to aspire to. With the league now receiving support from the highest sources it will only go from strength to strength, as evidenced by new NBL1 all-star teams taking on the NBL Blitz etc.

Aus basketball really is Vic basketball.

PLenty of time to recruit. Better to get it right the first time than to rush and get it wrong.

80% of DV roster has left, not sure where they will get players to fill spots.
Spears
Harding
Rimes
Kafritas
Killey
Thomas
All rumoured to be leaving.

Geelong United, any official relationship with Melbourne United or is it just Scheueller being coach and recruiting players???

It's pretty simple. They now have a women's team to pay for.

Be interesting to see just what women players they will attract to
My gambier, unless they are planning on using their CBL women's team, hope not as they have t won a game at that low level , they would be laughed at at NBL1 level
Any word on coach for their women’s side ?
