Why would he want to do that?

I don't think Australia is in the habit of giving citizenship to people who haven't even visited the country in three years, either.

Matisse Thybulle was not a chance.
He just spent 7 years in Sydney during his childhood but never gained citizenship

Why would we make him an aus citizen? We need more white immigration.

Interesting question though, should the NBl & teams take steps towards encouraging more naturalisation?
Wesley should have had his citizenship (of Au or NZ, 1 or the other) before now. Ware should be working on it.

Not sure HOW exactly they could encourage it. Even under the 2-import rule, naturalisations had dropped away substantially.

Thybulle could have had dual, that was enough.

When locally have we had a naturalized player. We're things easier years back when Al Green, Dwayne Nelson etc were running around. Guaranteed to be wrong but Lisch is only one that springs to mind, but would've thought a decent import would have settled down here even for premier league. Starling and Rios seem to be only ones who've settled here.

cos it's expensive, time-consuming and difficult. even if you do qualify (like I did) there's a lot to it, it's not as simple a working for three years then collecting your passport.
