Perth Wildcats vs New Zealand Breakers

Perth travel to NZ off the back of a loss in Brisbane. NZ handled Illawarra at home Thursday night.

Is there any update on Hopsons injury? I believe his status is key in determining a favourite for this one.

Small ligament tear, 1 week out best case.

It's a tough ask for Perth.
Their only hope is that they are all really steamed after last night, and come out firing.

TBH I don't fucking understand what Trev is doing this year, so its hard to predict, but if collectively we pull the same shite we did in Brisbane then we are no chance.

Kay is the best big in the league, and Cotton the best scoring Guard. But as we saw last night if the opposition has a solid plan to combat those two, and executes it well, then our lack of plan B is telling.

I don't know why Jook was benched. If injured, then we have a problem, as for whatever reason Hunt can only play sub 20 minutes. If it was Trev having a hissy because he kept bricking free-throws then we're still stuffed because that aint gonna change over night.

Unfortunately our improved 3-point shooting at home has become our Achilles on the road.

Even without Hopson, I think the Breakers can win this one as they have the pieces to slow down Cotton and White. The travel to Invercargill and short turnaround will also be difficult for Perth, unfortunately.

The only places which fly direct to invercargill are Wellington and Christchurch. They could fly to Queenstown then drive to invercargill from there

I need Kay, Cotton, and Damo to have huge games against NZ, otherwise my fantasy team looks shite.

Damo in a fantasy team? Good luck with that.

"Damo in a fantasy team? Good luck with that."

Actually Damo scores well in fantasy. Steals are worth 4 points, assists 3, and rebounds 2 or 3. But it also come down to who you can afford. I was trying to get McCarron in for this round, but didn't have enough cash.
Of course they were all useless against Brisbane, so they need to redeem themselves against NZ

There are direct Auckland to Invercargill flights now - started in August. But not sure they operate on weekends.

Fun fact: it's going to be warmer in Invercargill today than Perth. Invercargill expecting another 25 degree sunny day.

So many useful factoids here. Weather, travel, time zones.

Hoops just keeps on giving. Keep up the good work.

"Steals are worth 4 points, assists 3, and rebounds 2 or 3"

it sounds like Damo would of been a handy fantasy player back when he wasn't past it and surviving only on reputation. how many points are bricks worth?

I still haven't seen confirmation Hopson is out. If he plays this is a coin flip.

Another game that should be close, Hopson a big out for breakers, Perth haven't traveled that well this season and they will get an noisy reception right down south. Just think wildcats will bounce back. I’m hoping nz but I’d think Perth by 5.

Wildcats grind out the W.
Forced NZ into a ton of turnovers and smashed the on the O boards.
Breakers did well to stay in it right down to the last 7seconds.
Hopefully Hopson and Delany are back sooner rather than later.

If it's the same person then I hope they had a few $ riding on it.

Not super convincing by the Cats but any* road win is a good one (*Hawks aside obvs lol) especially in a game 2.
White's run of clutchness continues.

I think they missed Hopson on the defensive glass the most.

20 points off turnovers and 16 off second-chance for the Wildcats. Hard fought win and deserved.

No body taught the NZ guards that if you switch on the screen you still have to stop the big having a free run on the offensive board.

Yeah Ashley is a great find. Managed to limit his fouls and stay on the court which is promising especially with Long and United on Thursday.

First couple of games he blocked all kinds of shots but struggled with foul trouble so now he's trying to find a balance of protecting the rim but not at the expense of his court time.
